CHAPTER TEN

Shane

"So, where were you last night?" asked Stephen as he followed me out to the vehicle. "You never miss Friday night drinks. Were you feeling okay?" Even though I felt like it wasn't any of his business, I didn't see the harm in answering his question, especially since I had canceled my plans with him the night before.

"I was out with a woman last night," I admitted as I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. He frowned as he crossed his arms across his chest, not seeming to believe me. When I didn't say anything, he realized just how serious I was and dropped his jaw.

"Not you, too," he protested as he started to shake his head, the distress in his voice as evident as ever. "Why is everyone able to find someone but me?" I frowned in confusion as I stared at him, trying to figure out what he meant.

"What happened between you and Katie?" I asked, genuinely curious. "I thought you were about to propose." He winced as he looked away, and I realized I might have taken things too far.

Over the last few weeks, things between Stephen and Katie had been pretty tense, and the fact that Stephen looked like he had been through hell all this time made me wonder about him. I might not have known everything that had happened between the two of them, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. Seeing the pained expression on his face, I immediately started to backtrack, trying to think of something else to say.

"I'm sorry," I apologized, trying to cover up the question. "I shouldn't have asked." Stephen smiled a little as he waved his hand dismissively and climbed into the vehicle after me.

"Don't worry about it," he reassured me as I started up the vehicle. "Katie decided that I wasn't enough for her. I came home the other day and discovered her in bed with another man." I cringed as I looked from the road to him and back again, trying to determine why he sounded so calm.

"I'm sorry, man," I said after a long, awkward silence that lasted until we were right outside his house, a fancier house outside town. "I wish there was something I could do to help." As soon as the words left my mouth, I saw a smile spread across his face.

"Well, there is something you could do," he began as he turned to look at me as soon as we were fully parked. "I'm sure you don't really mean it, though. I bet you just said it because you don't know what else to say." Even though I knew better than to take the bait, I didn't want to look like a bad friend. So, I shook my head.

"But I do want to help you," I promised, already feeling that I was going to regret this before I was finished speaking. "So, what is it?" Stephen took a deep breath, bracing himself for what was about to follow.

"I want you to talk to the others and get them to leave me alone," he admitted as he stared me down. I was caught off guard by his request to talk to the guys and convince them to leave me alone. Seeing the look of confusion on my face, he continued. "I know they're trying to make me feel better, but I can't take it anymore. I just want to be left alone and not have every single girl in town pushing me. When I find the right one for me, I'll make my move. In the meantime, I just want a chance to heal." I was amazed by what he was telling me and couldn't help but bob my head up and down in agreement.

Most people in Stephen's shoes would have been the ones that everyone needed to drag out of the bar by their friends, but Stephen had been the exact opposite. I knew that he was going through a rough patch in his life, even though I didn't know exactly what had happened. When I saw that he wasn't spending all his time in the bars or smelled like alcohol all the time, I wrote it off as something minor and planned to stay out of it, but I was a bit worried when everyone else started dragging him to the bar. I felt bad for him and was willing to help him out.

"Of course," I told him, as I placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I'll talk to them tomorrow at work. Meanwhile, you should go inside and rest up. You look dead." Stephen laughed as he looked down at himself, seeming to agree with me as he climbed out of the vehicle.

"Thanks, man," he said as he turned back towards me. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." With that, he entered the house, and I started back up the vehicle, heading to my house, where Jamie was waiting for me.

Right now, I was off the clock and ready to go back to my little home. Anything pertaining to work could wait until the next workday, especially considering the fact that I was exhausted. All I could think about was how my Little would leap at the opportunity to put herself at my mercy, all for the sake of pleasure.

"I'm home!" I called out as soon as I entered the house, looking around for Jamie as I took off my coat and boots. "Jamie? Where are you? " Her voice came from upstairs, in one of the bedrooms.

"In our room," she called down to me. "Come on up. I need your help." Concerned that something serious had happened, I hurried up to the bedroom and threw open the door, ready for whatever was waiting for me.

Jamie was lying on the bed bare-naked and smiling as she looked at me. My cock throbbed in anticipation as I stared at her, taken back by the situation I had found myself in. I had been prepared for anything but this, and I didn't know what to think.

"How was your day, Daddy?" Jamie said as she started to sit up, exposing more of herself to me. Taking a deep breath, I shook my head as I closed the door behind me, locking it before starting towards her.

"Better now that I'm home," I said, reaching for her. "You better be ready for whatever Daddy gives you. Daddy doesn't like to be teased."
