conversation with my parents if something like that ever got back to them.
“Yeah, we talked about it. I’m just letting you know I’m always up for round two.”
I narrow my eyes at her. “Aren’t you fucking around with Liam now?”
Her eyes go wide like she’s surprised I knew that information. It’s hard not to know when we
have paper-thin walls, and her fake orgasm moans are way over the top. I’m pretty sure our entire
building can hear them.
“Well, maybe we could have a little group party. I’m sure Liam would be down.”
I’m fairly certain Liam would not be down for that. Liam was upset when he found out I had
fucked Sadie. I didn’t realize he had a thing for her, and I felt bad when I did find out.
“I think I’ll pass on that,” I tell her. She shrugs her shoulders, unfazed even though I know it’s a
blow to her ego. Sadie always wants to be the best, and when she isn’t the best, she makes it seem
like she did it on purpose. Like it’s not a big deal to her.
That’s the way she acted when people started asking if we were together. She spun it around to
make it seem like it was her decision for us not to be together. And honestly, I just didn’t care all that
much, so I let her have that.
“When are you coming back?” she asks, probably so she can be ready to interrogate me when I
walk through the door. She is irrationally jealous of Celine, which is funny because Celine doesn’t
want me the way Sadie does. Every time Celine texts or calls me, Sadie tries to make it seem like I’m
dropping everything to answer her or something.
I don’t drop everything, but I do enjoy talking to Celine. And while I respect her decision to not
tie herself down at such a young age, I guess part of me is still hoping that I’ll be the one she picks
when she is ready to settle down.
It’s pathetic. I know.
It hasn’t stopped me from living my life or anything. I’ve dated here and there, but nothing lasted
longer than a few months. No one worthy of writing home about. It’s hard to date in med school
anyway. My life is literally consumed by school. I’m in a hospital or a doctor’s office more than at
home.
“I’ll be back Sunday. Not sure what time yet.”
“Are you going to try to hook up with her before you come home?” Wow, I guess we aren’t
beating around the bush anymore. Sadie has always been incredibly nosey.
