thing he can see sends a shiver down my spine.
I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything. I just hope it’s not too late.
“Celine?” Mom calls, breaking me out of my trance.
“Hmm?”
“Does he give you butterflies?”
I don’t even try to stop the smile that forms on my lips. “Big ol’ Monarch butterflies.”
She rubs my arm. “Good.”
Chapter 24
Ezra
I t’s Saturday morning.
For the past few weeks, this has been my favorite day of the week because I’d wake up
knowing I was going to see Celine. Even if it was only for an hour or two in the front seat of my
car.
But today, I’m still waiting to hear from her.
And it’s killing me. I’ve decided that I’m not going to keep doing this back and forth with her. I’ve
laid all my cards on the table. It’s up to her now, and if she doesn’t want to continue whatever we
had, then I’ll be fine. Maybe eventually, after enough time has passed, we’ll be able to be friends
again.
I’ve been lying in bed watching some stupid reality show about rich people’s wives that Celine
got me hooked on. I finally roll out of bed and throw on gym shorts and a T-shirt. I’m not going to lie
around like a lazy slob all day when I actually have a day to myself. I’ll go to the gym, get some
groceries, and do my laundry. Then maybe I’ll watch a movie, or read a book, or I don’t fucking
know. Literally anything to keep my mind off Celine.
I grab my keys and phone and head out to the kitchen. Sadie is sitting on the couch typing away at
something on her laptop. She doesn’t look up when I walk to the kitchen.
“I was wondering if you were going to come out of your cave today,” she says, keeping her
attention on whatever she’s working on. I grunt in response.
I’m sure I haven’t been the easiest person to live with the past week. I tried to push everything to
do with Celine out of my head, but I’m pretty terrible at hiding my feelings.
I fill my water bottle and grab a banana from the counter.
