C eline freaking out made me freak out.
I shouldn’t have said anything. I shouldn’t have told her I wanted to have sex, but fuck.
Feeling her up against me, I wanted more. So much more. I let my dick do all the talking, and I
fucked it up.
The day after the wedding, I woke up super early. More like I barely slept thinking about how
stupid I’d been. Asking for thirty days of sex… who does that? I do, I guess. I decide to leave the
house before anyone else wakes up. I need to get out of here and clear my mind.
The sun is just rising as I pull out of the driveway. I have a sinking feeling in my stomach as I
drive away. I hope I haven’t lost Celine forever, but I can’t bear hearing her tell me she doesn’t want
me. I’ve gotten the brush off from her for almost four years now. If it happens again, it’ll feel final.
I stop for coffee and a biscuit on my way back to Jacksonville, but that barely takes any time, so
I’m home before my roommates are even out of bed for the day.
That’s when I get my first text from Celine. She wants me to call her. I take a deep breath. I can’t
call her back. Not yet. I’m not usually an emotional guy, but I don’t know that I could keep my shit
together if she called me now to let me down. I’ve barely had any sleep, and my head is pounding.
Not the best conditions for the type of conversation she probably wants to have.
I put my bags from the wedding down, change into some gym clothes, and head over to the twenty-
four-hour gym I’ve been a member of since I moved down here. Usually, I’m too damn tired to make it
over during the week, so most of my workouts happen on Saturday and Sunday.
I wasn’t planning on hitting the gym today, but I’ve got to do something to get all of this anger out.
I’m mad at myself for being so stupid. I run a few miles on the treadmill before heading over to the
deadlift platform, where I end up working my way up to lifting a new personal best.
By the time I finish my workout and get back to the apartment, Sadie and Liam are up and in the
living room, both of them doing something on their laptops.
“Hey, how was the wedding?” Sadie asks as soon as she sees me walk in.
“Great,” I tell her in the most non-convincing voice I’ve ever had. It’s really not fair of me to talk
badly about the wedding. The wedding itself was great, but the shitstorm that happened afterward
sucked.
“Uh oh, trouble in paradise?” She lets out a little laugh that grates on my nerves.
“It’s none of your business,” I snap at her. Liam raises his eyebrows but doesn’t say anything. He
