I feel better after I let the hot water run down my body. I almost crossed into dangerous territory

there. Sex is one thing. Sex with lingering feelings is just not cool. I didn’t sign up for that. I know it’s

going to be different since Ezra and I are friends, and I care for him as a person, but I can’t let it be

more than that.

Both of us need to understand what this is. It’s not a forever thing. It’s thirty days of sex. Really

good sex. And then that’s it. We’ll go back to being Ezra and Celine, best friends.

Chapter 14

Ezra

Z ero texts.

Zero calls.

Zero social media likes.

That’s how much I’ve heard from Celine since she left my apartment four days ago. I haven’t

reached out to her because I promised myself I wouldn’t. I don’t want to scare her off. I have to wait

for her to come to me. I know she needs her own space and maybe us having sex was too much for

her.

Typically after people have sex, they’re in a good mood. I know I’m usually in a good mood, at

least for a few days. But this time, I’m extra cranky. Yes, the sex was great, but I miss talking to

Celine more.

I miss my best friend. I usually text her about funny things that happen during my day, especially

when I have weird patients I think she’ll get a kick out of. But I don’t have that right now, and it kills

me a little more each day that I don’t hear from her.

The first day after she left, I had my phone attached to my hip, waiting to hear from her. Then I

would leave my phone in my room if I went to the kitchen or in my gym bag if I went to the gym, all in

hopes that I would come back to a text or missed call from her. But nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Now, I put my phone on silent when I’m working at the physician’s office, and I don’t bother

taking it off when I’m done for the day. I don’t even check social media anymore.

The only people I talk to are the patients I see daily and my roommates. I’m trying to act like my

normal self around Sadie. The last thing I want from her is more ‘I told you so’ looks.

I try to stay out of the apartment as much as possible, which is pretty easy with clinicals all day. I

go to the gym for an hour or two, then come home, shower, and eat before I crash for the night.
