crap anymore.”

Stella nods. I know she’s in the same boat, but she’s already decided to stay in school to get a lot

of fancy degrees. “Any new ideas for what you’re going to do after graduation?”

It’s an innocent question, and I know she doesn’t mean it in a bad way, but every time someone

asks me what my plans are, I want to dissolve into mush. Like, please, someone pour water on me to

see if I disappear because I don’t want to do this anymore.

“Nope,” I tell her. The same thing I tell her every time she asks. It’s the same thing I tell everyone

when they ask. I have no freaking clue. I don’t know how I’m expected to make such a huge life

decision at such a young age. It seems like a lot to ask someone who recently became legally able to

drink.

Sometimes I wonder if something is wrong with me. All my friends know what they want to do. It

seems like it’s just me. I’m just wandering around looking for a flashing neon sign to tell me what the

hell I’m supposed to do with my life.

“Have you tried talking to your academic advisor?”

“Yes. She acted like she didn’t have time for me. She told me to do a Google search of things I

can do with a Communications degree. It didn’t help at all. I’ll figure something out. Honestly, I’ll

start waitressing again as long as it means I don’t have to move back home with my family.” Stella

laughs, but I’m serious. I love my family; I do. But I can’t live there. That town is too damn small for

me. My parents were helicopter parents and barely let me do anything when I lived there. I don’t think

it would be much different now, even if I am considered an adult. “Alright, I’ve got to go write this

paper.”

“Ok. Good luck.” We both get off the couch and head upstairs. I know she’s going to look for

Ozzy. Those two are attached at the hip.

I go to my room but decide to take a shower first. I know I need to, but I don’t want to wash

Ezra’s scent off me.

What?

I don’t want to wash his scent off?

The thought alone scares me. I’ve never thought about something like that after sex. Hell no. I

practically run across the hall to the bathroom and douse myself in my floral-scented body wash,

washing the sex and every trace of Ezra off me.
