Ozzy must be. The man loves his silence and alone time, that’s for sure.
“Sorry. We’ve got to be on the road here in a few minutes, so it’ll be just you and Stella again
shortly.” He nods his head, and a small smile appears. “Hey, can I go upstairs and put my tux on?”
“Yeah, use my old room.” I nod and climb the stairs. When I reach the top, I glance in the
bathroom and see Celine sitting in a chair in front of the mirror with Stella fussing around her. She has
a curling iron in one hand, and she’s grabbing a chunk of hair with the other.
Celine notices me through the mirror. She can’t turn her head to greet me because Stella has just
started twirling her hair around the curling iron. “Hey,” she says.
“Hey. You look… like an alien,” I tell her. She laughs, knowing it’s probably true. She has so
many giant hair clips in her hair holding up different sections. Her make-up is done—at least, I
assume it’s done—and she looks beautiful.
“She’ll look amazing once we get the dress on her,” Stella assures me. My gaze travels down
Celine’s body, taking in the little silk robe she’s wearing. She wouldn’t tell me what her dress looks
like or even what color it is, so I’m more than a little excited to see it.
I nod at them both before heading to Ozzy’s old room to put my tux on. I slip on my pants, the crisp
white shirt Mom made me promise at least five times to get dry cleaned before today, and my bowtie.
I fucking hate wearing bow ties, but I’ve got to look the part. The part of what, I don’t know. Rich
douchebag, maybe? Whatever.
The girls are in Celine’s room with the door shut by the time I'm done. Hopefully, they’re getting
Celine dressed because we have to leave in ten minutes to make it in time without my mother
lecturing me for being late.
I go back downstairs and sit next to Ozzy on the couch. “How’s work, Oz? You liking it?”
“You know what? I do. It’s weird because I never thought I’d like working a desk job, but I think
it’s the perfect thing for me.” Ozzy got lucky after graduation, and an owner of a new gym in town
asked him to become his office manager after watching one of Ozzy’s fights. Now he uses his business
degree to help manage the business and works out for free. The owner used to be an MMA fighter,
and he’ll spar with Ozzy sometimes and give him tips for his fights.
We chat for a few more minutes before I hear Stella rushing down the stairs. She has a huge smile
on her face when she hands me a backpack and tells me it’s Celine’s things for the trip. Then I hear
the clicking of heels coming down the stairs.
