“Oh, yeah. Sorry.”

I quickly scramble out of the car and grab my bag from the trunk. The guy speeds off before I even make it to the curb.

Luckily for me, someone walks out of the building while I’m staring at the door, wondering what to do. The guy looks at me and holds the door open. “Did you need to get in?”

“Oh, thanks.” He seems unbothered by me as I walk in.

I head towards the elevator and press the button for Hawke’s floor. My palms are sweaty. Why are my palms sweaty? Ugh. This is Hawke. My childhood friend. This is going to be fine.

I step out of the elevator and find his door. I stand there staring at it for a minute before I grab my phone, take a picture, and send it to Hawke.

And then I wait.

A few seconds later, I hear footsteps and the lock turning. Hawke flings the door open and stares at me with wide eyes.

“Surprise,” I say with the biggest smile I can manage. My cheeks heat not only because he’s just staring at me but also because he’s only in shorts that sit low on his hips.

Before I can even blink, he steps closer and lifts me into him. I wrap my arms and legs around him and bury my head into his neck, taking in the scent I missed so much.

He kicks my suitcase inside, shutting the door behind us.

“What are you doing here?” he asks. I can hear the smile in his voice.

“I missed you.”

“You flew all the way out here for me?” He sounds like he doesn’t believe me.

I lean back so I can look into his eyes. “Of course I did.”

“Have you. . . have you had time to think about things?” I hate that I made him feel like I was unsure about him, about us. But I’m here to make it right.

I link my hands behind his neck and nod. “Yeah, I think we should try it.”

“Hell-fucking-yes, we should.” I’ve never seen him smile so big, and it makes me question why I was so nervous in the first place.

And then his mouth is on mine, consuming me like he needs me more than anything. I feel an instant heat between my legs as his tongue grazes mine. Everything about this feels right, like it was always supposed to be us against the world.

He sets me down on his kitchen counter and starts pulling my leggings down. “Hawke,” I giggle. “I’ve been traveling all day. I’m gross. I should probably shower first.”

“No fucking way. I’m starving, and your pussy is on the menu.” Well, I guess I can’t argue with that.

He lowers onto his knees as I’m spread wide on his counter. He peppers my thighs with small kisses as he makes his way to my center. When his tongue makes contact with my clit, I let out a loud moan and feel him smile against me.

“You really missed me, didn’t you, Sunshine?”

I wiggle to try to get close to him. “Less talking, more eating.”

He chuckles. “Yes, ma’am.”

His mouth is on me again, licking and sucking and claiming me. He works his fingers inside me, curling up to hit my G-spot while his tongue circles my clit.

“Yes, Hawke. Yes.” My voice is breathy and laced with lust, which eggs him on even more. He picks up his pace as I melt against him, my hips thrusting against his mouth.

Before I know what’s happening, an orgasm rips through me. I grip the edge of the counter to keep from falling off as I completely lose control of my body.

When Hawke finally stands, his arms go directly to my waist, picking me up and carrying me to his couch. I haven’t even had a chance to look around his apartment. I’m just seeing it as he carries me through. He sits with me on his black leather couch and takes off my oversized T-shirt and bra until I’m completely naked in his living room. The only thing left on me is the sun necklace Hawke gave me in Mexico. I haven’t taken it off since.

“God, I can’t believe you’re all mine, Sunshine.” He stares at me with a cocky smile before sliding his shorts down to reveal the massive erection that sends a shiver down my spine.
