“Fine,” he says with a smirk. “But you have to stay out of my bed, too.”
“Trust me, I won’t be anywhere near your bed.” I honestly cannot even fathom ending up in Hawke’s bed.
“You say that now, but don’t come crying to me when you change your mind.” There will be no mind-changing. The last thing I would ever do is jump into bed with Hawke. He’s probably been with more women than the number of cities I’ve traveled to. And he’s my ex-boyfriend’s brother. It would just be weird.
“Anyway. . . next rule. No nudity in the bedroom. We change in the bathroom. I don’t want to see your bare ass.”
“Are you sure? I’ve been told I have a very nice ass.”
I scoff. “I’m absolutely positive.”
“You’ll be missing out.” He wiggles his eyebrows at me.
I ignore his comment and move on to my next rule. “If you plan on hooking up with someone in our room, you have to let me know. I do not want to witness the fake moans coming from your next victim.”
He throws his head back in laughter, and I cross my arms over my chest. Nothing about this is funny. I would be traumatized for life if I walked in on that.
“I’m serious. Let me know if you’re doing something in here, and I’ll do the same.”
He stops laughing abruptly, so abruptly it kinda scares me a little. He looks me up and down, taking in my crossed arms and serious expression.
“Fine. I’ll put a sock on the doorknob if it makes you happy.” He takes a few steps toward me until he’s close enough for me to smell his spicy cologne. His voice lowers. “But I can assure you, whatever woman I’m with is certainly not faking anything. I always make sure my partners finish before I do.”
I swallow at the thought of Hawke making a woman come. He’s attractive; anyone who looks at him would think so with his dark unruly hair, whisky-colored eyes, and lean body with muscles in just the right places. He could be a model. It’s always perplexed me that he chose a career behind the camera instead of in front of it. With his arrogance, I assumed he’d want all eyes on him.
I reach out and pat his shoulder. “Well, that’s great for you.” I turn my attention to my suitcase to start unpacking.
“Are you sure you’re ready to be hooking up with people? I mean, you did just get out of a relationship.” He asks like it’s any of his business, but I humor him anyway.
“Sometimes it’s best to rip the Band-Aid off and get back out there.” I’ve been through my fair share of breakups since Holden and I ended things. I did the whole pining for weeks thing, but I found it easier to jump right back into the dating pool. Plus, it’s not like I was in love with Brady or anything. It sucks I got dumped, but I’m not heartbroken about it. I’m more annoyed at the inconvenient timing than anything. It’s been a while since Brady and I were even intimate because I’ve been gone so much recently. It’d be nice to have an orgasm from someone besides myself.
I look over at Hawke and find him glaring at me. “What?”
He quickly shakes off whatever he was thinking about. “Just don’t want little Summer to get her heart broken again,” he teases.
“I can handle myself, thank you very much.”
“You’ve made that very clear.” I’m not sure what he means, but I’m not going to worry about it.
While Hawke goes outside onto the balcony, I grab my dresses from my suitcase and hang them in the closet. Some of the dresses are for product promotions I was contracted for, so I don’t want them to be wrinkly.
I’m putting my last dress up when he comes back in and notices I’ve used all the hangers.
“Sum, I have stuff to hang up, too, you know.”
“What could you possibly have to hang up?” I look him up and down in his plain white T-shirt and gym shorts.
“Contrary to whatever you’re thinking, I wear more than just board shorts and T-shirts. My parents are renewing their vows, so I brought something nice.”
Ugh. He’s right. I guess I can’t hog these. I take two of the dresses down and fold them up. I probably won’t wear them, but if I have to, I’ll use my hair straightener to iron them.
“Fine. Here you go.” I wave my hand in front of the two empty hangers.
“Wow. Two whole hangers. Your generosity is astounding.”
I glare at him, but he just smiles. I go to the mini fridge and grab one of the complimentary bottles of wine.
“Am I driving you to drink already?” He laughs.
