“I’ll do it,” I repeated. Thankfully Weston was silent and didn’t give me another detailed description of where he’d been and what he’d seen. But he wasn’t moving so I continued. “This is different.”
“Different how?”
“I don’t know. But it feels personal, just different.”
“Doesn’t get more personal than me inside of you,” he started. “How ‘bout this? Let me do it this time. If you hate it, I won’t do it again. But this time, I want to take care of you.”
There was something in the way he asked that made me spread my legs. This meant something to him—cleaning me after he’d taken me. And he was right, there was nothing more personal than what we’d done. If I hated it, I’d tell him. But this time, I’d let him do what he wanted.
He pulled my leg wider and gently started to swipe the warm cloth against my sex. My eyes fluttered closed, not because I was embarrassed, I wasn’t. His ministrations were soothing, I felt cared for.
“Didn’t use protection, Silver.”
My eyes popped open and I stared at him staring at the space between my thighs.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
“I’m not on birth control.”
He nodded and his gaze came to mine. “I’ll glove up next time. If you want to go on the pill and are cool with no condoms we’ll do that. If not, I’ve got us covered.”
There was a lot there, all of it good, mainly the fact he didn’t look panicked we’d just had sex twice without protection and pregnancy was a possibility. A real one, considering it was about ten days until my next period. Fuck.
“You wouldn’t mind if I didn’t want to go on birth control?”
“Your body, your choice. I’m certainly not gonna complain about a condom if that what’s needed.”
“I’ll go on the pill.”
“Right.” He chuckled. “Your choice.”
My choice. I loved that.
“What if…I mean, I’m supposed to start my period soon. I’m not entirely sure but I think this is about the time in my cycle where I can get pregnant. I could get the morning-after pill.”
No sooner had the suggestion left my mouth Weston’s entire body strung tight, his hand stopped wiping me clean, and his eyes became guarded.
What the hell?
“Is that what you want?”
“I’m just saying it’s an option—if you want.”
“Your choice.”
That felt awesome, too, but it kind of wasn’t only my choice.
“It’s not only mine when we’re talking about something that would be yours, too. I appreciate the sentiment but you have a choice in this.”
Weston was quiet for a long time. He finished between my legs and tossed the cloth on the nightstand. Still deep in thought, he tapped my leg and I was grateful he was done. I felt exposed and vulnerable as I waited for his answer, not sure how I felt. Either option was life-changing. One answer and there would be a very real possibility a baby would be a result of our lovemaking. The other would mean, there wouldn’t be. It was too soon to be thinking about babies and the future, so I knew the thundering in my chest was ridiculous. But it was there and I couldn’t stop it. What if he told me to take the pill? Would that mean he wasn’t ready now, or did it mean he didn’t want kids in general, or just not with me?
“I don’t want you to take the morning-after pill.” The breath I was holding whooshed out. “But the choice is yours and whichever decision you make I support a hundred percent.”
I didn’t want to take it and I knew I’d only offered because I had to give him that option.
“I don’t want to either.”
“Right. Then we deal when the time comes.”
