“You seem awfully calm about this,” I told him. “Isn’t this something most men would freak out about? I mean, I’ll be honest, I’m kinda freaked out.”

“Why?”

Was he nuts?

“Well, let’s see. I just had phenomenal sex—times two—with the hottest man I’ve ever seen. We didn’t use protection, which means there’s a chance I could be pregnant and it’s been less than a week since we stopped throwing barbs at one another. I think if there was ever a time to freak out it would be now.”

“Then it’s a good thing by the time we find out if you’re pregnant we’ll have been together going on a month.”

Yep, he was nuts. Arguably crazier than I was and that was saying something, because since all of this started with Weston, I’d questioned my sanity a million times.

“I think you’re missing the point.”

“Silver, I want kids. Lots of them. And if they came out with your pretty hazel eyes, all your beauty, your intelligence, and your strength, I would not complain.”

Okay, all of that felt good. So good, I let the warmth of his crazy declaration settle over me. But he was still nuts.

“Um, Weston, I like all of what you said—a lot. But don’t you think maybe you should be freaking out, too? It’s really soon to be having this conversation. It would seriously make me feel better if I wasn’t alone in this.”

“You’re not alone,” he returned. “And this might freak you out more than you already are, but not only does the thought of you carrying my baby not freak me out, but it fills me with so much fuckin’ joy it hammers home what I’ve known all along.”

I was afraid to ask, I really was, but I needed to know. “What have you known all along?”

“That you’re it for me. You’re the one. I knew it, I was sure. But hearing there’s a chance that what we just shared created a life and the fact that I am elated should tell you I know what I’ve found and I’m not ever letting it go.”

I stared up at Weston, calm as he could be, no fear, no regret, no second thoughts.

How did this happen? How did it happen so fast? How did Weston Beil know exactly what I needed to hear to ease my fear? But the best part was, he wasn’t just saying those words, he felt them.

“Okay.” I drew in a deep breath. “We’ll deal with it in a few weeks.”

His face lit and his sexy smile appeared. And when it did I prayed that if I was pregnant, our baby got his smile, and maybe his warm brown eyes, too.

The call came just before dawn, and Weston rolled to grab his phone off the nightstand. Silver was tucked to his side, the same place she’d been when they’d gone to sleep. Something Weston liked a fuckuva lot. His woman liked maximum body contact when they slept.

“Lo,” he muttered when he placed the phone to his ear.

Silver started to move away but Weston tightened his grip, not wanting to lose her bare tits, bare thigh, and hand resting on his chest.

“Just got word from Alec,” Nixon started, sounding like he, too, had been woken up. “Takedown was successful. Three are in custody. No casualties.”

“So it’s done?”

“It’s done. Silver’s safe.”

Weston let that settle before he continued. “What’s next?”

“Chasin will work with Alec to see who else they can bring in. You’re after the skip. Holden and Jameson are working a case with Jonny and I’m left to enjoy my future wife.”

“Fucker.” Weston chuckled. “I’ll let you go so you can get on that.”

“Right. See you in a few hours.”

Nixon disconnected and Weston tossed his phone back on the nightstand and wrapped his arm back around Silver.

“Everything okay?” she mumbled.
