“And Fin? I’ll get the prospects to clean the room over the garage tomorrow.”

She was silent for a beat. I heard the disappointment in her tone when she said, “He’s not coming with me… at least not yet.”

My heart hurt for her. You’d have to be blind not to see how close the two of them were. “I’m sorry, darlin’. How are you handling it? Will he stay with your dad?”

Juju sniffled, and I cursed that I was too far away to hold her. “Yeah, he’ll stay with Dad for now. He wants to come and look at the high school, see if there’s a place on the football team before he makes the move.” She sighed before admitting tearfully, “I was expecting it, but it still sucks donkey balls. It’s been him and me for so long. I’m going to miss the little shit.”

A grin spread across my face. Laughing softly under my breath, I replied, “We’ll arrange it, darlin’. I have pull in the town, and the football team isn’t half bad. We’ll get him here so you have your boy with you.”

She sniffled again. “Ugh, I’m being a selfish bitch. He’s happy for us, by the way. Said he liked that nobody would fuck with me if I was a Kings of Anarchy Ol’ Lady.”

I smiled into the darkness at the thought of having her with me and wearing my patch. “I like your boy, Juju. You did a good job with him. I know it doesn’t seem like it now, but it will work out. I promise.”

“Yeah, it will,” she agreed, sounding better now.

We talked for another hour before ending the call. Tomorrow was going to be a long day with little sleep, but I’d functioned with less. I’d sacrifice more if it meant that Juju slept easier.

CHAPTER 16

JUJU

Dawn was breaking as I hugged my dad and Fin goodbye, holding on longer than I should, as if it might be the last time. It wasn’t, but with all the changes coming, that was what it felt like.

Tears pricked at my eyes as I buried my face in my son’s chest, wondering when he got taller than me.

“It’s okay, Ma. I’ll see you in a few weeks for Thanksgiving, no matter where you are. If you decide to stay with the Kings, or if you and Glacier come here, I’ll be with you. I promise,” he reassured me, swaying us gently from side to side.

I inhaled a shuddering breath and nodded. This year was going to look very different from the last.

I squeezed him one last time before stepping back. Looking up into his eyes, I wiped the tears from my cheeks. “Love you, Fin.”

Fin smiled. “Love you too, Ma. Now go and live your life. I’ll see you in a few weeks.”

He opened the door of my SUV and helped me inside. It was already loaded with my personal belongings. One thing about living with my family was that I didn’t have much to pack.

I was taking my wheels, and Gabe was driving the feed store truck, loaded with stock for the shop in Bitterthorn. We weren’t transporting guns this trip—we’d start doing that once I was settled. For now, the club had enough stock before their next delivery.

I put the SUV in gear and waved to my son and dad as I pulled out of the parking area and onto the main road, with Gabe following behind me. I didn’t look back again—I knew if I did, I wouldn’t leave.

We stopped once before continuing on our way. When we were ten minutes out from Bitterthorn, I messaged Glacier to let him know our arrival time at the shop, my chest tightening as the reality of it all settled in.

All I got back was a thumbs-up. Amused, I shook my head.

The town was bustling as we drove up the main street, and excitement began to hum through me. I liked the feel of the town. It was busy, and I couldn’t help but feel encouraged at the promise of living life to the full there. I studied the local bar that was still closed and wondered who owned it.

There was no stopping the smile that spread across my face when I spotted the bikes lined up outside the feed store… and my man waiting for me.

I pulled in and cut the engine, waving Gabe towards the back of the feed store.

My door opened, and I was hauled straight into Glacier’s arms.

“Fuck, darlin’, I’ve missed you,” he muttered before claiming my mouth.

I curled my arms around his neck, holding on, letting myself sink into him. It had only been a few days, but he wasn’t wrong. I’d missed him too.

When we finally broke apart, I smiled up at him. “Missed you too, Simon.”

He stole one last kiss before releasing me to greet Lawless and Lurch. Harriet was with them—a dark-haired, dark-eyed beauty a little shorter than me, with voluptuous curves and olive-toned skin a few years older than me. I greeted Lurch and Lawless, who both picked me up off the floor in back-breaking hugs of welcome.
