So fucking hot. Between his gorgeous face, his impressive driving skills, and the fact his hand now cupped my boob, if we weren’t in the middle of a high-speed chase, I’d have jumped the shifter, straddled his lap, and shoved my tongue down his throat.
This is Wes. No kissing Wes. Bad, Piper. Bad.
He glanced at his hand and grimaced, then released his grip on my boob. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to cop a feel.”
No apologies needed, I wanted to say, but instead, I just slammed forward in my seat as Wes sent the car flying backward away from the SUV barreling straight at us.
The car engine screamed as we hit speeds that shocked me—speeds most civilians couldn’t master when going in reverse. But Wes seemed to handle them with ease, guiding our car between the honking traffic whizzing past each window. Another SUV joined the one pushing up toward us. I reached into the bag between my feet and pulled out my SMG.
“Keep it steady.” I pressed the button and rolled down the window.
“Careful,” Wes said as I leaned out, aiming my sights at the driver of the SUV on the right.
“I’m always careful.” I grinned then pulled the trigger.
My bullets bounced off the windshield, and I grumbled, changing my aim to the tires. Another few shots at the tires proved useless.
“Fuck,” I spat as I climbed back inside. “Bulletproof vehicles right down to the tires.”
“Oh, shit. Another one behind us,” Wes said just before he slammed on the brakes and cranked the wheel.
The gravity from our fast spin slammed me up against the door, and I saw the third SUV that had been behind us as we spun around to face it.
“Hold on!” Wes shouted, shifting the car into gear and slamming me back into my seat as he took off.
I clutched my gun tight as we flew past the new pursuers, straight into oncoming traffic.
“You got this?” I gulped as I watched the cars speeding toward us.
“Yep. Any ideas on where I should go?”
“Take that exit onto the ring. We can try to lose them there and get the hell out of town.”
He veered right, and we popped out onto the ring encircling Moscow. We flew by the cars with the SUVs hot on our tails. Everything Wes tried did nothing to shake them.
Looking into my side-view mirror to see them still attached to us, I shook my head. “These guys are good. Pros. We’re not going to lose them. Plan B.”
“What’s Plan B?”
I pulled the grenades out of my bag. “This is Plan B. I need to toss them just right, so they go off under the engine, so don’t swerve when I’m aiming.”
His eyes widened as he looked over the grenades. “Grenades? Plan B is grenades? We’re not in Iraq, Piper. You can’t throw grenades in fucking Moscow! What if you hit a civilian?”
I scoffed as I wrapped my hand around the hard metal. “Seriously? You think I’m not skilled enough to handle a couple grenades without taking out civilians?” Arching an eyebrow, I waited for his response that didn’t come. “Exactly. If I can’t manage a few well-placed grenades with a five-meter blast radius, then I had no place on Elite Stealth Force. And not only did I have a place on Elite Stealth Force, I rocked my place on Elite Stealth Force. So, yeah. I can handle these without taking out civilians. Any other problems with my plan to keep us alive?”
Wes looked at me sheepishly. “Nope. Point made. Happy blasting.”
I leaned out the window again, pulling the pin while I held the safety lever tight. I eyed up the vehicles behind us and counted the seconds between when they passed my mark.
“When I say go, I need you to speed up twenty miles per hour.”
“Got it.”
I counted again, then just before I dropped the grenade, I shouted, “Go!”
Wes stepped on the gas, and we darted forward. I let go of the grenade and watched it bounce down the street. Just as it rolled underneath the first SUV, it blew, sending the vehicle flying through the air in a fiery explosion. It slammed into another SUV, taking two out with one shot.
“Holy shit!” Wes shouted as he looked into the rearview mirror. “That was awesome!”
