Ohhhh… That changed everything. This wasn’t a Daddy standing up the cute bundle of dramatics, but another boy. It still made Remi feel all sorts of protective, but in a different way.

Remi told himself to keep walking, but instead he slipped behind the corner of the last cabin. He couldn’t help but try to catch another glimpse of the boy’s face. His head was bent and his ear pressed to his phone, but from the little Remi could see, he looked distraught. His cheeks were pink, and the pale, delicate beard on his chin trembled.

The boy turned away, and now Remi got to see the soft curves of the boy’s ass as he hop-stepped his way around the table again. He was wearing khaki shorts and a pale yellow t-shirt, but Remi could just imagine that sexy little butt in a diaper.

Preferably the ones that Remi had packed for this trip in hopes of finding someone to wear them.

Ugh. Should he keep walking or wait? He wanted to go and comfort the boy, but he’d certainly see the boy again tonight at the event. Then he could hear the whole story from the boy’s lips without hiding like a creepy stalker.

“Fine,” the boy sounded defeated. “I’ll just check out and come crash with you at your place.”

Oh no. That wasn’t what Remi wanted at all. Not that it was his business, but he couldn’t help but think that he’d be letting the boy slip from his grasp. Would he be a terrible person if he tried to convince him to stay?

The boy paused on top of the table, arms crossed and ear pressed to his shoulder to hold the phone while he looked out at the view. “Tommy, you’re keeping something from me. We planned this months ago. There’s no way you actually have to work on the weekend. And I was coming here for you.”

The boy listened for a long time, then dropped onto the table in a huff. He was sprawled out on his back across the table top when he finally spoke again. “Fine. But Roarasaurus is still mad at you. Don’t expect any cuddles on Sunday.”

Another long pause.

“OK,” he grumbled. “I love you, too. Bye.” Then he dropped the phone on his chest and stared up at the domed ceiling.

The last comment, about loving whoever Tommy was, would have given Remi pause, except that it sounded like something you’d say to a sibling. A grudging we have a million years of history, so I love you even though I’m annoyed sort of love.

Also, if Remi was putting all of the pieces together correctly, he was pretty sure he’d seen this boy on the Cuffd app. He had maybe gone over the two profiles of the boys who identified as littles a few too many times, and this had to be BabyRoar.

Just the name had pulled a smile to Remi’s lips every time he saw it.

Since the boy wasn’t going anywhere, Remi took out his phone and checked one more time. There was only one picture, a cute tuft of blond hair and one bright, playful eye peeking out from behind a stuffed dino.

He could see, though, that BabyRoar was twenty-seven, finishing grad school though it didn’t say in what, and enjoyed a few other light kinks beyond the most important one: age play. Otherwise, there wasn’t a lot of information. The section on what type of relationship he was looking for, with choices of “just friends” to the amusing euphemism of “right now” to “long term,” was completely blank.

It looked like he hadn’t spent a lot of time on the profile, and Remi wished there were more information. Remi took one last look at the sweet photo, turning his phone to the side to enlarge it. When he did, the content below reflowed and he saw something important he should have noticed earlier: BabyRoar lived in Boston.

That explained what he meant by coming here for his friend.

Remi stifled a sigh. He knew exactly what he was looking for: a boy to keep and treasure. A boy who would move in with him and stay by his side. Boston was on the other side of the country.

Remi flipped to the other little’s profile to check the location now that he knew about the feature. He lived in Portland, which was good. But Remi also noticed the boy’s stuffy, a fuzzy white bear. Was that Bear Bear? The chances were good, which meant that the only other confirmed little who was supposed to attend likely wouldn’t be coming.

Remi felt a surge of disappointment. One little who canceled and one who’d be flying back across the country in a few days. So… that was the end of that.

He hadn’t exactly been holding out on the Cuffd Destinations weekend as his only opportunity, but still, knowing that it wouldn’t pan out before he’d even met anyone was crushing.

He drew in a deep breath, the pine-scented air no longer filled with life and possibility.

Maybe he should just go back to his room. Or take a hike like he’d planned. Either way, he should walk away. He didn’t want a long-distance relationship.

Remi looked at the boy again. He was still sprawled out on the top of the table, looking morose. He fiddled with his phone, not looking at the screen but twirling it around between his fingers.

Oh, hell. Remi knew what he was going to do next. It was what he’d wanted to do from the beginning.

Remi stepped out of the shadows and approached the picnic table. “Hello?” he called, giving plenty of time before he reached it so he wouldn’t startle the young man.

Gray-blue eyes turned and met his, sideways and a bit upside down, which he found endearing. “Hey. Uh, were you talking to me?”

“Yeah, sorry to bother you. I was just heading toward the hiking trail and… I heard a bit of your conversation without intending to. It sounded upsetting.” Better to get that out of the way up front. He didn’t want to be dishonest.

The boy’s face scrunched up, in annoyance, and maybe a bit of concern. “It’s fine.” He sat up, feet firm on the bench of the picnic table, and looking more adult by the second. He still had a sweet baby face, but his posture was erect and responsible now, hiding his feelings.
