Remi nodded, absorbing it all. “Thank you for explaining that. Really. I can see how insensitive that was now. Um… I feel like anything I say now is going to make it worse. Sorry, it just caught me off guard.”

Isaac shrugged, still looking uncomfortable. “Like I said, I know you didn’t mean it to be rude. And I’ll be honest and say that I like it when people assume that I’m a cis guy. It feels good not to get second looks all the time.”

“And then I just gave you a second look. I really am sorry. I guess I still have a lot of learning to do.”

“Yeah, well… Nice to meet you.” Isaac gave him a tight smile and started off toward the lodge.

Wait. What? Had he really screwed up that badly? It took him a moment to even realize what was going on.

“Hey!” Remi jogged after him to catch up. “Isaac?”

Isaac turned slowly.

“Did I miss my chance?”

“Huh?” Isaac’s eyebrows furrowed, like he was trying to figure something out.

“I’m sorry I started things off on the wrong foot. More sorry than I can say. I just… wanted to know if it meant I don’t have a chance with you this weekend. If you want me to leave you alone, I will. But if you think you could forgive me...”

“Hang on. You’re still interested?”

Now Remi was confused. “Yeah.”

“You’re sure?”

Was he sure? He hadn’t had a single second to think about it. But he knew what the right answer was, and he’d be damned if he ever let Isaac know that he had a doubt. “I’m certain.”

“Yeah?” Isaac was back to looking a bit shy and very hopeful.

Now Remi was back on firm ground. He might not know everything that he needed to know, but the thing was, Isaac was male. He was attracted to him. It was so easy to imagine him crawling around on the floor in a onesie, and that was what pulled at Remi more than anything else. There were other details that he could research or ask about later.

Especially when Isaac was looking so cute, with those gray-blue eyes and charming smile.

Remi wasn’t always the best at flirting, but he knew how to compliment a sweet boy. “You’re kind of the whole package. Sexy, smart, fun to hang out with, and I happen to know you have a very cute stuffed dino. I’d go so far as to say that you’re adorable ev-ry-where. How could I not be interested?”

Isaac giggled, a happy, carefree sound. “OK. Um, good. So…”

“So you’ll be my baby boy for the weekend?”

Isaac twisted his hands again. “What if it’s just… non-sexual stuff?”

That was probably wise for Remi, too, while he figured out anything he needed to know. But with every insecurity Isaac showed, Remi just wanted to reassure him more. “Whatever you need, baby boy. Is age play non-sexual for you?”

“No, um… just… sex is kind of a Big Thing.”

Remi could actually hear the capital letters, and it was even more endearing. “Sex is definitely a Big Thing.” Or at least it would be with Isaac. It would take a huge amount of trust, and if it ever happened, he already knew just how precious it would be. “You set the pace, though. Whatever you do or don’t want is fine with me.”

“Can I still think about it?” There was only the slightest bit of hesitation in his voice now.

Remi smiled, almost certain now that the boy was his. He wasn’t above a little persuasion, though. “Of course. Take all the time that you need.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out his keys. “And maybe this little guy can keep you company while you think about it.”

He slipped a green dinosaur keychain off the bigger ring. He’d picked it up on a whim a few years ago, thinking that one day he might have a boy who’d be delighted by it. It was kind of a promise to himself.

And now he couldn’t think of a better person to give it to.

“Ooooh!” Isaac’s eyes lit up. “She looks just like Roarasaurus!”

Remi handed it over. “Push the button.”
