“Okay, I’m almost out the door. Can you tell me what happened? You’re scarin’ me a little.”

“There was a fire in the American dorm - you have no idea how thankful I am that your room wasn’t ready - and Cam’s in the hospital with smoke inhalation issues. Everyone else is fine, but Cam’s staying overnight. He hasn’t woken up yet. The other guys are set up in our suite’s living room. I didn’t want to bother them. They’ve been through enough.”

“Jesus.” I pulled on some sweats and a hoodie, grabbed my wallet and grabbed the door handle-

“You alright, dude?”

I pulled the phone away from my mouth for a sec. “Yeah, all good. Going to see Ty.”

“Damn, he must be good in the sack. A booty call at three in the morning! Shit, man, I’m jealous.”

“Yeah, dude. You don’t even know. See ya later.”

He was a good guy and I knew he’d stay up worrying if I told him. I didn’t want that. He’d find out soon enough what happened.

I still had so many questions but now wasn’t the time to ask. “Do you want me to stay on the phone while I come to you?”

“I don’t think so? I feel better knowing you’re already on your way.”

“On the elevator already, babe.”

“I’ll probably run a bath and try to relax.”

“Okay, I’ll be there as fast as I can. Love you.”

“Love you too. Thank you. And sorry for waking you.”

“You don’t have to apologize, Ty. I wish I was already there.”

I heard him sigh. “Me too.”

“Hopefully you’ll still be in the bath when I get there.”

“I don’t think there’s room for two.”

“I can watch, can’t I?” My joke was rewarded with a hint of a laugh, but it was enough for me. “See you soon, babe.”

“Be safe.”

“Always.”

I hung up and jogged past security and out of the village. Of course, the street looked deserted.

“Fuck,” I said out loud to no one.

I turned back to the village and walked up to the security station. I briefly explained there was a situation and I needed to get to my boyfriend. I thought the guards were going to tease me like Asher, but thankfully they were professional. Their recommendation for cheapest was the bus; fastest was a taxi.

“Taxi. Definitely a taxi.”

“We can give one a ring, if you like.”

“That would be amazing. Thank you.”

“Hi, I’m here to visit a guest.” I waited for the inevitable grin, thinking I was there for sex.

“Can I see some identification? I’ll just need to scan it into our system. I assume you’re Mr. Moore?”

“Uh, yeah. That’s right. Declan.” I handed them my license.
