“Tyler called us and said you’d be arriving. We don’t get many people this late at night.”
I nodded. “Understandable.”
“They’ve had a rough go of it. If there’s anything we can do for anyone, please let us know.”
I took back my ID. “Thank you.”
“Here’s an access card for the suite. Take the lift up to the eighth floor, room two thirty-five.”
The room was dark when I opened the door. I turned my phone’s flashlight on and walked a few steps into the room, closing the door as quietly as possible. I could make out several lumps on the couches, but headed towards the hall on the right. I pulled out my phone to call him.
“Hey.”
“I’m here. Which room is yours?” I whispered.
“Two thirty-five.”
“I know that. I’m already inside, in the dark. I don’t want to slide into Woodward’s bed. Help me out.”
I was rewarded with another tiny laugh as a beam of light pierced the darkness as a door opened down the hall. I could see Ty, peering out, looking for me. He was wrapped in a big, fuzzy, white bathrobe. I dashed over to him, shoved him back into his room, and pushed the door closed behind us. He melted into me and I surrounded him with my arms, resting my chin on the top of his head.
I held him for a while, waiting for his sobs to end. His face was nestled against my chest, hands clutching at my hoodie. I slowly rocked him back and forth. My heart broke. I hated seeing him upset.
“Thanks for coming. I-I stayed strong at the hospital, but it just really hit me once I was back here alone.”
We moved to the bed to sit down.
“You made it out of the bathtub, I see. Did it help you relax?” I asked, rubbing my hand over his back. His wet hair felt cold against my neck.
“Yeah.”
“Where’s your brush?”
He pointed to the nightstand. I grabbed it, then launched myself towards the pillows, resting my back against the headboard. “Come here.” I patted the bed between my legs. Ty started to crawl towards me, but I stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. “You wanna take the robe off?”
He nodded and complied.
Fuck, he was still wearing the cage.
“I’m surprised security hasn’t detected that.”
He smiled for the second time since I arrived. “About that. Security at the hospital found it. I told them it was a piercing. I may have gotten side-eye from Ford, so…thanks for that.” He nestled his ass up against my crotch and leaned back onto my chest.
“You have that ready or were you just quick-thinking?”
“I had it ready. If you hadn’t noticed, there’s a lot of security around.”
I pushed his chin up, positioning his head so I could see his hairline before starting to brush. I didn’t want to poke him in the eye. This was one of his favorite things and I hoped it would offer some comfort.
“I can feel that you’re already hard.”
“Hard not to be, babe, when I’ve got a naked man this handsome in between my legs.”
“You’re the one that asked me to take the robe off.”
If I was being completely honest, he had gorgeous hair. And I loved playing with it. Running my fingers through it always made him shudder. I watched him brush it every night. The nights he forgot I was fairly sure were his way of getting me to brush it, which I did for him happily.
His body sagged against mine as I continued to brush. I pulled the hair under his head out and brushed that up, then collected it into a ponytail in one hand and brushed over that. I knew all the tricks. It wasn’t our first time doing this.
