I didn’t need to go far.
Evan: I’m still at the frat.
Evan: Living room.
I made my way through the labyrinth of halls and down the stairs. It seemed he got sucked into playing video games with Jayden and a few other guys.
“Sup, Teo.” Jayden greeted me with a smile.
“Morning.”
Despite the fact that it was winter, Jayden was dressed in a skimpy tank top and mesh shorts that slung low across his hips. Evan was sitting next to him, but scooched over when I arrived.
“You wanna grab some coffee, Evan?”
“Sure.”
“But we’re in the middle of a game.”
“I can take over for Evan,” one of the other brothers said.
“Thanks, Greg.”
“See you later, Evan,” Jayden said, holding his hand out for a bro hug. Evan accepted, but was pulled into Jayden’s lap in the process.
When we were in the kitchen, alone, I asked about Jayden’s friendliness.
“It’s nothing.”
I didn’t want to pry, so I changed the subject. “Zach said you came by. Did you want me for something?”
“Yeah, I-he told you about that?”
“Yup.”
“Oh. I was around and wanted to go to the gym.”
“What were you doing at the frat at eight in the morning on a Sunday?” Evan’s cheeks blossomed into a deep pink shade and I realized that Evan might also have something to tell me. “Nevermind. We can definitely go to the gym, but I wanted to tell you something first.”
“Okay.”
“Something happened between me and Zach.”
“You had a fight?”
“Quite the opposite actually. We’re together.”
“What does that mean? You’re best friends. You’re together all the time.”
“No, that’s not what I mean. We’re boyfriends.”
The realization slowly overtook his face. “That was you under the covers this morning?”
I nodded, grinning.
“Wow.”
Wow? “Is that okay?”
