Which was why I didn’t see my mother coming.
“Where are you two headed?” she demanded, stepping in front of us.
“Anders needs the loo,” I lied smoothly. “I told him I would show him the closest one.”
“Yeah.” He cleared his throat. “I forgot what a long drive it is to London. I should have gone before I left, but, you know, I don’t get up here much.”
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as he oversold the lie. I went to Silverstone more often than he came here, but he’d been in London at least once a month since we’d met. Not that my mother needed to know that.
“Hmmm.” She didn’t look like she was buying any of it. Her gaze remained on us like a hawk sensing weaker prey. “I’m sure he can find the facilities without assistance.”
“It’s a palace,” I said, sidestepping her. “He could get lost. I don’t want him to miss the party.”
“He’s been here before,” she pointed out.
“Briefly,” he said.
She drew a long-suffering breath and shrugged. “Don’t take too long, you two.”
“We’ll be right back.” I scurried away, Anders at my heels.
“Is it my imagination or does your mum know that we’re going inside to—”
“Shhh!” I giggled. “Someone will hear you.”
He leaned closer, his hand ghosting across the small of my back. “If I have my way, they’ll all hear you in about two minutes.”
I held my breath as we pushed open the large glass doors that opened into the Bow Room. As soon as we were inside, Anders pushed me against a large marble column, his mouth finding mine. I moaned into the kiss, desperate for more of him.
“I missed you,” he growled, nipping at my lower lip. “I don’t like being away from you.”
“I missed you too,” I panted, running my hands over his chest, feeling the hard muscles beneath his suit jacket. “But we should find somewhere more private.”
“I can’t wait any longer. I’ve been thinking about this all day, boss.” Anders kissed down my neck, nipping at the sensitive skin just below my ear.
“What about your family?” I murmured, brushing my lips over the lingering stubble on his jaw.
“What about them?”
“I thought you came here to be with them.”
He hitched my skirt up to my hips and pressed his leg between my thighs. I gasped as his fingers danced over the band of my garter belt.
“I did,” he whispered. “This is very sexy.” His hand moved up, finding the lace knickers I wore. He pushed them to the side and brushed his thumb across my sex.
“We can’t.” But I spread my legs wider anyway.
“Why not?” I could hear the smirk in his voice. “Afraid we’ll get caught?”
My eyes closed as his mouth ghosted to my collarbone. He pushed a finger inside me, and I groaned, managing a single “Yes.”
“Hear me out, boss.” He drew back, still working that single finger in and out of me. “It will be worth it.”
I lunged forward and kissed him, giving in completely to my need for him. He’d promised me nearly a year ago that it would always be like this between us, and he wasn’t wrong. I wouldn’t be able to think until he’d claimed me—until I felt him inside me.
His finger disappeared, and I let out a squeak of protest, grinding my hips closer to him as he unfastened his belt. He unzipped his pants, and I shoved them down to his ankles. Anders laughed against my mouth and scooped me off my feet, bracing me against the marble.
“Is this what you need?” He angled the broad tip of his cock against me.
