Turned out his brilliant plan sounded even sillier when he said it aloud.
“Yeah, go on.”
Sean brushed his bangs out of his eyes. “I thought if I wrote him a song—one meant only for him
—he might see how serious I am and that this isn’t some starry-eyed crush.”
“That’s an awesome idea!” Kellan clapped his hands. “Have you finished it yet? Sing it for
me.” He leaned forward and reached for the notebook. “Show me the lyrics.”
Sean snatched it from Kellan’s grasp. “No!” He held it to his chest, a tad embarrassed by how
loud he’d yelled. “Sorry. But it’s not finished. I’m not even sure I like it all that much.”
“I was grabby, wasn’t I?” Kellan appeared contrite. “Skip says I get too excited sometimes.”
Sean wasn’t so sure about the growly cook at the restaurant. The wolf shifter was supposed to

Kellan gasped. “I know! The music festival! You could sing it then. Me and Vic could make
sure he’s there and everything.”
“Uh…” Perform in front of all those people? Oh, hell no.
Kellan hadn’t lost one bit of steam. “Maybe you could talk to Scott, and him and the Crimson
Knights could back you up, or maybe you could do it solo under a blue spotlight. Then once the crowd
was quiet, you could whisper into the microphone, ‘This one’s for you, Avi’. Can’t you just picture
it?”
Nope.
“Gee, Kellan.” He cleared his throat. “You’ve really thought this through. However, I haven’t
decided what I want to do yet. I might make it private.”
Which brought him back to his original dilemma. How would he ever find an excuse to get Avi
alone?
Chapter Four
Sean untied his apron then hung it on the hook in the restaurant kitchen. Ever since the day he’d
waited on and gotten a ride from Avi, he hadn’t seen him once. Dora had made an off-hand remark
about how strange it was that he hadn’t been in for his usual breakfast, and Sean’s stomach had
