soon. For some reason, he hadn’t felt like shifting since he and Avi had gotten together. He’d never

gone so long without shifting before. It probably isn’t healthy.

Sean glanced at the clock. It was almost six-thirty, so Avi should be home soon. When he’d

finished his shift at the Inn, he’d hitched a ride with the prep cook into town so he could pick up some

food for dinner. His new home with Avi was only a few blocks from the market, which was perfect.

He could still get a stroll in, but it wasn’t too far to carry a couple bags of groceries.

I should try and put a meal together or…something.

He rubbed his stomach some more and groaned. He couldn’t imagine why he wasn’t hungry yet,

especially since he’d barely picked through his lunch earlier. And he hadn’t eaten anything since,

either. When he’d gotten home from the store, he’d thrown the laundry in the wash then spent most of

the afternoon washing and drying every sheet, blanket and towel Avi owned. He’d even done the ones

that were already clean and folded up in the linen closet.

he thought about the towels and blankets. Maybe they should buy some more. Just in case.

He jumped from the sofa and ran into the hallway, yanking open the door then rifling through all

the stacks of linens and towels, careful to keep from knocking them onto the floor. If they touched the

carpet, he’d have to start the process of cleaning them all over again.

One, two, three, four bath towels… He narrowed his eyes as he continued through to the hand

towels, counting those before he reached the blankets. Three blankets plus the thin one that’s already

on the bed.

Sean slapped a hand to his mouth. Oh no. That’ll never be enough!

The sound of the lock clicking open could be heard from the front door. Sean leaped to his feet

then raced through the living room to let Avi in.

He’ll know what to do.

Sean threw the door open wide and was met with Avi’s look of surprise. Then he realized the

door was open and that there were people out there. Bad people. And evil, terrible, awful shifters

and vampires and dragons and witches who want to… He didn’t know what they wanted to do, but
