“Kane has Elena.”
“I’m coming.”
“Lucas, listen to me.”
“I’m not leaving without you.”
“I know.”
Gunfire exploded through the radio.
The connection died.
“Wynn!”
No answer.
I climbed faster.
Roth reached the upper doors and forced them open.
We entered a service corridor beside the hangar.
A man in black tactical clothing stepped from a doorway.
Roth shot him twice.
Another appeared behind a storage crate.
I fired.
He dropped.
We kept moving.
The hangar waited beyond a reinforced door.
Roth reached for the handle.
I caught his arm.
“Wait.”
“My sister is inside.”
“So is Kane.”
“And Wynn.”
“I know.”
Every instinct demanded that I charge through the door.
That was what Kane expected.
What Fate predicted.
Fear.
