“That’d be nice.”
“Really?”
“I think I’m ready,” he said.
I sat up. “For what?”
He swept my hair behind my other ear and then stepped back and looked at me. “You, Lou. I’m ready for you.”
I melted into my seat a little. “What. Uhhm. What do you mean?”
“I’m tired of waiting. It’s driving me nuts.”
I could feel my heart beating between my ears. I swallowed heavily and hoped he didn’t notice. “What’s driving you nuts?”
“I want to be with you,” he said. “I can’t wait any longer. I’m ready.”
Oh God.
I tried to hide my excitement, and doubted I succeeded. “I’m ready, too,” I said.
“Want to go turn the sign around?”
“Huh?”
He handed me a key ring. “Lock the front door, and turn the sign around. It’s the silver key.”
I blinked a few times. “Huh?”
“We’re officially closed,” he said.
I shot him a surprised look. “It’s ten in the morning.”
“You have something against morning sex?” he asked.
I didn’t bother responding.
Unless squealing and running for the door was a response.
