His lids closed with a long exhale, his hand rubbing up and down my underwear. Lifting his lashes, he craned his neck to kiss me, his other hand tangling in my hair.

Did he mean that? Or was that pillow talk, caught up in a lustful moment? If he did mean it, what the hell was I supposed to do with that information? He knew that was impossible. We would both die!

Arching, I rolled my head to the side, burning up with arousal. “Mm, Wyatt, make love to me.”

He groaned and draped his chest on top of me, covering my mouth with a heated kiss. Flipping his wrist, the tips of his fingers tucked under the band of my underwear when my cellphone rang.

Milo’s ringtone.

Yelping, we broke away, panting, staring at one another. Everything inside crashed, and I had no idea how to feel.

“Shit.” He threw himself to his back, his hands at his temples.

I tossed the covers off and scrambled to my feet, snatching the phone from the dresser. Staring at Wyatt laying in the bed I shared with my fiancé, I swallowed the tight sob in my throat and answered the call.

Chapter 9

Chastity Monroe

“Hello?”

“Hey, baby girl. What’s wrong?”

“N-Nothing.”

“Really? You sound upset.”

“I’m fine. I was watching a scary movie.”

“What movie?”

“Hm? Oh, I don’t even know. I turned it right before you called. How are you?”

“I’m good. I’m missing you pretty damn bad, though. For some reason, this trip is super hard.”

A small smile tugged my lips, my pulse skipping. Scratching behind my ear, I tipped my head away from Wyatt to whisper, “I miss you, too.”

He huffed and flung the blankets off, scooting to the edge of the bed. Panicked that he was leaving, I jumped in front of him, holding my palm out. Stilling, he stared up at me with a mixture of emotions I couldn’t read.

“So, how about I send a jet to you in the morning, and you fly out and join me? I know it’s only for a couple days, but I really miss my woman.”

My lips pulled between my teeth, torn in two different directions. Hearing the man I love telling me how much he missed me while staring into the eyes of another man who looked at me as if I were the one thing in this world keeping him alive. What the hell was I supposed to do? How did I get into this predicament? How could my heart betray me like this?

“Okay. Just text me when you have a time and I’ll be there.”

“Excellent. I’m going to take care of that right now.”

“Okay.”

“I love you, baby girl.”

My lids closed, my throat constricting. “I love you, too.”

Wyatt sneered and tried to stand, but I pushed his shoulder down. We hung up and I laid the phone on the nightstand.

Avoiding his stare, I stammered, “He’s, uh…ahem. Charting a jet to um…he wants me to fly to him tomorrow.”

“Great. I’ll go pack. This will be fun.”
