Suddenly, the room resonated with people and cheers of joy, the others bearing witness to the emotional scene that had just played out. Voices blended together like the strains of a well-played fiddle, a chorus of celebration swelling in the air as his new family rejoiced in his recovery, and their newfound unity.

"Ye've done it, lad!" cried Gil, pumping his fist in exuberance. "Welcome to the family!"

"May the Lord bless this happy union!" Quinn called out.

“Aye, and I second that!" Elsie cried in agreement.

Amidst the cacophony, Darragh's gaze swept over the animated faces, seeing in them affection and support. He turned to Lara, kissing her hand with his parched lips, thankful to be safely reunited with her and to be accepted into the family.

Her eyes shone, her face flushed with emotion. She smiled at him, never letting go of his hand, sending him love and infusing him with the strength that belied her delicate appearance.

"Lara,” Darragh stammered, his voice trembling like the leaves on a tree caught in a breeze. In that moment, he felt vulnerable, raw, as though he was baring his very soul to her. “I ken we’ve been through much, and… I cannae imagine me life without ye.”

“Nor I without ye, Darragh,” Lara whispered, pressing his hand to her lips, their touch as soft as thistledown. “We are bound by our love, nae matter the trials that come our way."

"Then, Lara MacLean," Darragh said, the words clawing their way up from his throat, each one heavy with hope and fear. "Would ye dae me the honor of becoming me wife? Fer real this time?"

Darragh held his breath, the world seeming to still around him as he awaited Lara's response. The beating of his heart thundered in his ears, drowning out all else.

Lara stammered, her eyes glassy with unshed tears, and Darragh felt his chest swell with a mixture of joy and disbelief. "Aye, Darragh, I will marry ye."

"Och, lass," Darragh breathed, his voice thick with emotion. "I cannae tell ye how much that means tae me."

Their lips met in a passionate kiss, fervent and tender all at once. It was a dance of unspoken promises, a testament to the love that bound them together. The world beyond them seemed to fade, leaving only the fire that burned between them and the joyous celebration echoing around them.

"Och, ye two!" Quinn's jovial shout broke through the haze of their passion, drawing them back to the present. "Yer nae wed yet, dinnae forget ye have an audience!"

It seemed to Darragh that a tidal wave of bodies surged toward him and Lara then, with laughter and congratulations washing over them like a symphony of pure happiness and unity.

"May yer love be everlasting, Darragh and Lara," Elsie breathed, her eyes shining as she regarded them both fondly.

"Long live the MacDonalds and the MacLeans!” shouted Gil, and the rest enthusiastically took up the cry, while Lara rested her head against Darragh’s chest and gazed smilingly into his eyes.

Ach, I truly am the luckiest man alive!
