“We’re definitely doing that again,” I rasp between breaths.
“Fuck yeah, we are.” He presses a kiss to my stomach before he crawls up my body and kisses my lips. When he presses his body against mine, I can’t help but notice that he’s no longer hard, his length softening in his boxer briefs.
“RJ.” I turn as he kisses me, working his way along my cheek and neck.
“Yes, darlin’?” More kisses.
“Did you—”
“Come in my pants again like a goddamn teenage boy? Yes, yes, I did.”
That shouldn’t make me smile, but it does. To know that I have that kind of effect on him is intoxicating, just like it was the other day. Except this time, I’m not struck with the urge to run away.
“I’m going to take a shower.” He peppers my face with several more kisses as if he’s been dying to do this for years, then he pushes off the bed.
“I want to take a shower with you. I want to return the favor. But I can’t move.”
“Tonight was about you, and as much as I would love to feel your mouth on my cock, I’m thirty-seven. My body hasn’t bounced back that quickly in years.” He presses a kiss to my forehead and then my nose before leaning back to look at me. “It’s been a long day. We’ve got all week. Why don’t you get some rest?”
“Okay.” It takes everything in me not to fight him on this. There’s so much we need to talk about, but I sleepily nod as he climbs out of the bed and pulls the covers up to my shoulders.
“Sleep, darlin’.”
My eyelids are heavy as he disappears into the bathroom. This is just for the week, just to get it out of our systems. I smile against my pillow, clinging to the lie as I drift off.
CHAPTER 19
RJ
It’s mostly dark, the beginnings of dawn barely peeking through the blinds, when I wake the next morning. Summer is lying on her side, arms tucked under her pillow as her messy brown hair splays out around her. She looks breathtaking like this, and I take a moment to marvel at her beauty.
The way her eyelashes fan out across her face.
The way her perfect plump lips twitch every so often.
The way her freckles dot her nose and cheeks.
She’s so fucking beautiful, and I’d be the luckiest man alive to be able to wake up to this every morning.
A plan forms in my mind. There’s no way I’m giving this up, no way I’m letting her go this time.
Placing a hand on her hip, I lean in and press a kiss to her forehead. She lets out a throaty, sleepy moan and nuzzles her face against my chest and I hold her there, breathing in her warm floral scent.

My eyelids flutter open. I blink quickly, trying to adjust to the bright light. Did I fall back asleep?
“You snore,” Summer says softly.
“I do?”
“Yup. It’s not loud. It’s kind of comforting.”
A huge smile lights up my face, and I love the way her eyes fixate on my dimple. “Good morning, sunshine.” I lean in to kiss her, and she rears back, putting a hand over her mouth.
“Nuh-uh. I need to brush my teeth.” She scoots back, sliding out of the bed. I grab her wrist before she can escape and pull her down, so she lands on top of me.
“I don’t give a fuck what your breath smells like. I’ve waited all week for a morning like this with you, to roll over and kiss you like you’re mine. A whole fucking lifetime. I don’t care how bad your breath is, I need this, need you.”
