The door opened, and he didn’t see Venom. There was Morwenna and all his anger evaporated, because in all their time together, he never got angry with her. He loved her more than anything, but he was just one big giant fuckup.

“What do you want?” she asked, folding her arms.

He couldn’t believe she caught him during a weak moment with Star. Losing Morwenna affected him so badly. He couldn’t stand it. He loved her so damn much.

He’d decided to start doing the right thing and seeing his kids, but they were at the clubhouse when he went to see Star. Bolt intended to leave, but before he got the chance, Star was touching him, it felt so good, and he missed Morwenna.

When he heard the couple next door fucking, he knew it was all fake as he heard the giggling, and the noises didn’t make any sense. The moment he finished with Star, he needed to get out of there, because he’d been disgusted with himself, only to come face to face with Morwenna, and fucking Venom.

He didn’t like Venom. When Venom went to prison, it had been a welcome relief, because he hated the bastard so fucking much. He was a real son of a bitch. He hated him on principle. Not that he actually had a principle to hate him on.

“Morwenna,” he said.

She looked good. Her long, brown hair was curled, and he knew she tended to hate curling it, but she must have taken the time to do it. She wore a little makeup, which he knew she only did when she wanted to look pretty. Why did she want to look pretty?

“Bolt,” she said.

Gone was Casey. Damn it, he hated his real fucking name, but whenever Morwenna called him that, he loved it. Right now, he hated that she wasn’t giving him anything. They shared a whole life together.

“You took your stuff,” he said.

“Yes, that’s right.”

“Look, I know I messed up and I’ve got a lot to make up for, and I’m really—” He stopped as Venom moved up behind Morwenna.

“Is everything okay here?” he asked.

He didn’t like that. He didn’t like any of this. It pissed him off royally, and he wanted to hurt that bastard. His hands clenched into fists.

“I moved out,” Morwenna said. “I left more divorce papers with Maverick, and I have plenty more if you keep burning them.”

“Can’t we talk about this?” he asked.

“What is there to talk about, Bolt? You’re with Star.”

“I’m not with her.”

“You should be. You were happy to give her three kids, but I get to stay on birth control. That’s the way you wanted to play it.” She folded her arms beneath her breasts. “You were never honest with me, Bolt. It was always about what you wanted, just like when we were sixteen, remember?”

“Morwenna?”

“I wanted to wait, but you always told me there was no point in waiting. That you and I were meant to be together. The truth was, you couldn’t keep it in your pants then, and you definitely can’t keep it in your pants now.” She shook her head. “We’re done, Bolt. We’re completely and totally done.”

She went to slam the door, but he shoved his foot against the door.

“So, you and Venom now, is that what this is? You’re fucking him now, and you want a divorce so you can do so without guilt.” He snarled out the words and knew he was being cruel, and he didn’t have a single right to be upset or pissed off. He lost all of those rights five years ago when he cheated on her.

For a split-second, he saw the upset in her eyes—the anger, the hurt—and that soon morphed into something else.

Morwenna didn’t back down. She stepped in close. “How dare you. I don’t have anything to feel guilty about even if I decided to screw half the town. You and I are done, Bolt. You made your choice. I had to live with it, and not that it is any of your business, but Venom lives here because he is my friend. Unlike you, he tells me the truth. He doesn’t lie. He doesn’t manipulate. Get your ass off my property, otherwise, I will grab my daddy’s shotgun, and I will hurt you.” She kicked his foot out of the way, and damn it, she was on fire, and he couldn’t help but admire it. She slammed the door in his face, and he took it because that was what he deserved.

For a few seconds, he stood there and waited, hoping to hear tears, but he heard nothing. He didn’t even know if Venom and Morwenna were still by the door.

Bolt stormed back to his bike, straddled his machine, and turned over the ignition. This was not the way club brothers helped each other. He was done being nice to Venom.

Arriving back at the clubhouse, he stormed into his father’s office, then quickly stepped out, because his parents were literally having sex over his father’s desk. He groaned and rather than listen to them, he stormed out to the back.

He started to pace the yard, walking back and forth. His head filled with images of his parents, and he stood, squeezing his hands. He loved that his parents still had all that love and passion even after twenty-five years, since they had him. Bolt was aware of there being complications during his birth, which is why his parents never had more children. Yet, he already had three at the age of twenty-five, none of them with the woman he loved.
