“Your mate spoke to the cops yesterday,” I said.

“What? She wouldn’t do that,” Luna cried.

“She did,” I said, calmly spinning the gun around on one finger. “Pissed me off. Though I’ll admit, I might have acted a bit rash just now. Making that look like an accident will be tough.”

“Did you really call the cops?” Luna asked, stroking Julia’s rapidly paling face.

“He just loved him so much,” she whispered, her eyelids sliding shut as blood soaked the warehouse floor.

Luna choked on a gasp, pressing her lips to her dying mate’s forehead.

I cocked my head to the side and turned to Silver. “Your territory, your problem. Get rid of her.”

“Yes, sir,” Silver said, walking over to where Julia lay unmoving with her eyes closed in a pool of blood. I joined them and dipped my fingers in the red liquid, lifting it to my lips.

“Delicious,” I said. “Take Luna back to Harvest Cove too. She needs to rest. She’ll be playing the part of abandoned mate tomorrow.”

“Why should I do anything for you?” she asked, tears rolling down her face.

Beautiful. If they’d been true mates, it would be even better.

“Because I still have your sister and your father in my clutches, Luna dear. So unless you want two more dead bodies on your watch, I’d suggest you go home and prepare for your next role.”

“You’re a monster,” she said.

“Yes. But you knew that already.” I turned to Ryder as Silver rolled out a black tarp for Julia’s body, Luna cried several feet away. “You.”

He rubbed his temples, likely still sore from the rejection of his bond. Ironically, he was now free of what I’d asked him to remove. Too bad he’d fucked up so many times getting to this point. I bent down to his level, scratching my temple with the barrel of the gun. “There are so many things about your behavior that I can’t make sense of, and frankly, I’m uninterested in trying.”

“I couldn’t watch him die. I loved him once. I care about him.”

“You should try caring more about yourself.”

“I do!” he yelled. “Why do you think I’m all over the place, asshole? You’re making me choose between myself and him and it’s impossible.”

“You chose, Ryder. You chose when you tried to stop Silver from killing him. You chose when you drove your car into his. You chose when you called 911. You chose when you were going to let them wake him up. And you chose when you let the other alpha out of your sight. You made your choice.” I pressed the barrel of the gun to his forehead. “Repeatedly. Asshole.”

I cupped his face and spit on his cheek. “The good news is that you no longer have to make any choices at all. Because you are absolutely useless to me. I’ll be making the choices now. Felix lives. His bond with his new alpha is too close to home for me and I’m not interested in being discovered because of your fuck ups.”

“I’m a loose end, aren’t I?”

“Look at that, not so stupid after all.”

“What’s going to happen to me?”

“I imagine one day the despair as a result of your mate having bonded to another alpha will be too much and you’ll off yourself. That’s what you’ll write in your suicide note anyway.”

He swallowed, and a trickle of piss leaked down his leg. Between the scent of the piss and the blood just a few feet away, my cock was positively aching for release. I palmed myself over my jeans.

“And Ryder? When I send Silver after you, he will finish you without any hesitation.”

“What if I go to the police? Or run?” he asked, tipping his chin up in defiance.

I smiled and kicked him in the stomach, knocking him onto his back. “Try it. I love a good chase.” I rubbed my dick. “Just the thought of it is making me hard.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“Glass houses, Ryder.” I shook my head as I pulled my dick out. “On second thought, try to run, please. I haven’t chased someone down and fucked them into the dirt in a while and I could really use a night like that to take the edge off.”
