“I need your skin,” he said, nuzzling against my chest before coughing and pawing at his throat.

I shifted him off me and sat up to pull my shirt over my head. “No more talking,” I commanded. I picked up the cup of water the nurses had left me earlier and pointed the straw at him. “Small sips, handsome.”

He nodded and wrapped his lips around the straw before settling back on my chest. I set the cup of water aside and held him against me, breathing easily for the first time in days.

“What about Ryder and the guy who did this to me?”

I shifted to meet his eyes. “The guy who did this to you? It wasn’t Ryder?”

“No,” Felix shook his head. “Ryder was there, but someone else was too.”

“Who?”

“I can’t remember what he looked like. Just his scent,” Felix said, his eyes fluttering closed.

“I’ll call Wyatt soon. Just rest for now, handsome,” I said, kissing his head again, as he fell asleep.

If Ryder isn’t the one who tried to kill him, then who did?

“I’m starting a list today. That list will be comprised of people in my ranks who are too fucking stupid to do their job without getting caught!” I bellowed. “Guess which names I’m putting at the top?”

The three morons stared at me from across the warehouse.

“That was not rhetorical.”

“Mine, sir,” Silver said, lowering his eyes to the ground. “I should have checked the drugs myself or knocked out Ryder to prevent him from intervening. It won’t happen again.”

I lifted one eyebrow and faced Ryder, whose eyes were on his feet.

“Do you see how he stepped forward first and admitted his mistake? That’s why he gets to live,” I said.

“He gets to live because he’s your favorite fuck toy,” Julia scoffed.

“Luna, do muzzle your bitch,” I said, turning to where Luna stood beside me. “Or I’ll do it for you.”

“Do you know why I call myself Vargkung? Even now, when I know you know who I am?” I asked Ryder.

“No, sir,” he said, still far too interested in the floor.

“Because I am the goddamn mother fucking Wolf King in this territory and I want you to know exactly who you’re dealing with. I have embedded myself so deep into the towns that surround this lake, and I control things that the rest of you pups know nothing about. Guess how I maintain that kind of control.”

“You tie up loose ends.”

I smiled slowly, walking toward them. “That is correct, little pup.”

I stopped in front of Ryder pulled the gun from my back pocket. He startled, shaking as I lifted it and pressed the barrel to his temple. “I remove people when they no longer serve me.”

I cocked the gun and twisted my wrist, firing at Julia’s chest.

The sound of incoming death made blood rush to my dick as she dropped to the ground.

“Julia!” Luna yelled as she ran to her side and dropped to the ground. She held her mate in her arms, trying to stem the bleeding with one hand as she looked at me in shock. “What are you doing?”
