“You’re not wrong.” I grin, glancing toward the pole room.
Ghost comes up behind Xanthe and pulls her back against his chest. “What are you up to, sunshine?”
Sunshine? Stop. They are so obsessively cute together.
“Just introducing Bear here to Elena. She wants to check out the pole room.” Xanthe tilts her head back to grin at him. “Can I go in there with her?”
“No,” he replies without missing a beat, and then picks her up and throws her over his shoulder.
“And then there were two,” I murmur, and Ora laughs.
The music suddenly cuts off, and Rome starts to address everyone. “I hope everyone is having a good night! Can we please have Romeo, Patch, and Omen up here?!”
While everyone is busy watching the prospects get patched in, Ora leads me into the pole room, and Bear comes in behind us.
Mood lighting fills the room, with two leather couches and two podiums with poles on them. Right now, one of the new club girls, the one who has a pixie cut, is putting on a show for Angel. She’s wearing nothing but a red thong, but Angel’s eyes are on his phone, not even paying attention.
The men sit there and watch the women put on a show for them. Must be nice. One day, I want to see the men dance for us.
“I have to head out there before War comes looking,” Ora says to me, then glances back. “Come on, you’ve had your look.”
“I’m going to stay a few minutes.” I grin, sitting next to Angel, who looks over at me and mutters, “Fuck.”
“What?” I ask, looking back at the woman. “I’ve never been to a strip club.”
“Angel, watch her,” Ora orders, winking at me before walking out.
Bear is still standing there, watching me instead of the naked woman.
“Suit know you’re in here?” Angel asks, narrowing his dark eyes on me.
“No, he hasn’t even bothered to talk to me today. Trust me, he doesn’t care,” I reply, trying to keep the sadness out of my tone. “He made it clear he wants nothing to do with me, and it’s fine.” I reach out my hand, and Angel’s brow furrows.
“What?”
“Can I have a sip of your drink? I finished mine.”
He opens his mouth, then closes it. “Your parents didn’t teach you about stranger danger?”
“You’re Suit’s best friend, and why would you spike your own drink?” I ask, flashing him a smile. His gaze drops to my lips, and with a heavy sigh, he hands his glass to me.
When I look over at Bear, he’s sitting down on the other couch, now watching the dancer, but when he feels my eyes on him, he looks back at me.
Is that interest I see flickering in his dark eyes?
Sighing heavily, I turn to Angel and say, “I should go over there and kiss him. That was the plan.”
“Yeah, definitely don’t do that,” Angel rasps, picking up his phone and checking his messages.
“You know that scar of yours makes you ten times hotter,” I blurt out.
Angel returns those dark eyes to me, scanning my face as if to see if I’m telling the truth.
“Seriously.” I nod and then mouth the words, fucking hot.
His lips twitch, and I smile widely, feeling like I’ve accomplished something.
Bear stands up and comes over to me, gently cupping my face with his hand. “Come dance with me.”
