I laugh. “I'll look for you.”

“You better.”

“I will always look for you.” He says so softly I barely hear it, but God, how I feel it.

We go quiet for a second; neither of us hangs up.

We spent the entire weekend practically together, and somehow, I still don't want to get off the phone.

Friday finally rolls around, and I swear, if someone had told me on Monday that by the end of the week, I’d be even more tired than I was then, I would’ve laughed in their face.

Instead, I’m standing in front of my mirror trying to decide what the hell to wear to a football game.

I didn’t care about clothes so much before, but ever since I decided this year would be different, its practically a full-time job.

Tessa is sitting on the floor behind me, digging through the pile of clothes she’s thrown around my room.

“This is bullshit,” she says.

I look at her through the mirror. “What is?”

“We’re going to their second football game.”

I turn around. “I know.”

“And our game got rained out.”

“I know.” I pout.

She holds up a shirt, looks at it, then throws it onto my bed. “I’m just saying, it’s bullshit.”

I laugh. “Again?”

“Because it’s still true.”

I turn back to the mirror and smooth my hands down the front of my shirt.

“I dot hate that I get to watch Tommy play football twice in less than a week.”

“You were supposed to watch him play football once and then our game, then watch him play football again tonight.”

“Exactly.”

“That makes no sense.”

“None of this makes sense.” She flops backward onto my bed.

“Our game gets rained out, and somehow we’re still going to the football game.”

“Because they have lights.”

“Because some anonymous person gave the school a bunch of money.”

I grin at her. “You sound bitter.”

“I am bitter.”
