“Of course I’m sure.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I know.”

“Because once you meet him…”

“Jay.”

He sighs, but there’s a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I’m just warning you.”

I set my glass down on the coffee table. “He’s your brother. Of course I want to meet him. I’ve heard about him for months. How bad can he be?”

Jay gives me a weary look that makes me narrow my eyes.

“What?”

“He’s nosy.”

“Okay?”

“No, like…” He pauses, searching for the right words. “Really nosy.”

“I can handle nosy.” I laugh and shake my head. “I still want to meet him.”

Jay studies me for another moment before finally nodding. “Okay.”

“Okay?”

“Okay.”

“See? That wasn’t so hard.”

“You say that now.”

“What’s he going to do?”

Jay’s mouth twitches. “I guess we’ll see.”

“That sounded ominous.”

He laughs under his breath and reaches for his phone. “Fine. I’ll call him.”

I look at him. “Now?”

“You’re the one who wants to meet him.”

“I do.”

“Then you’re getting your wish.”

He taps Shane’s name and puts the call on speaker. Shane answers almost immediately.

“What’s up, baby brother?”

“Are you busy tonight?”

There’s barely a pause. “Nope.”
