Silas propelled us into the wall, attacking my mouth with his own. I grunted as he violently forced his tongue past my lips. I pushed against him, striving to resist the prowling muscle and immoral hands that clasped around my waist, locking us ever closer.

Fed up, I roughly bit down on his lip, causing him to lurch back. I tasted blood.

“Ahh, this is what you want?” Silas murmured darkly, sucking away the red liquid from his bottom lip. “I see. You want it rough. I can give you rough, Raven.”

I ran my tongue over the blood that coated my teeth. “Fuck off.”

He slammed his body closer to me. We were cheek to cheek. “Only with you, baby.”

I struggled in his grasp, wincing. “Get the fuck off of me!”

Silas pulled back swiftly, grinning. “Or what?”

My fist shot out, a robust greeting to his face. It was so fast, and I instantly regretted the moment it happened.

But I didn’t say a word as Silas reached his hand up to touch his nose, pulling back to reveal blood that ran in thick streams down his face.

And I wouldn’t apologize.

My hands were shaking as I snatched my phone from the small table. Forget about my shoes. I just wanted to leave.

Before my fingers graced the doorknob, Silas’s low voice slithered into the air around me.

“Don’t you dare,” he warned.

For a split second, I remained motionless. My emotions covered me, smothering. I had half a mind to turn back around, fuck Silas again and forget all about the confrontation.

But something else inside of me had changed. And I wasn’t going through this anymore.

Fuck this.

I swung open the door.

I’m outta here.

“Noah!”

I bursted into the hallway, slamming the door in Silas’s face. I took the stairs in twos, desperate to escape outside into some fresh air.

My body shivered at the sounds of crashing coming from the room. To say that Silas was angry would be a complete understatement.

There was a loud crack as the door flung back open, hitting the wall behind it. I continued down the stairs, without looking back.

“Noah!”

“Leave me alone!” I called out. The front door was in my sights.

“Get your ass back here, now!” Silas’s footsteps pounded down after me.

I had enough. I spun on my heels, and Silas halted. He was only about five steps above me.

“YOU DON’T FUCKING OWN ME, Silas!” I screamed, the words erupting like volcanic ash, pressure and time underneath a surface for too long finally sent the fire to the brink.

Silence. The intensity in Silas’s eyes that would typically break me only fueled my rage. I wasn’t a product. I wasn’t an employee. I wouldn’t be bossed around by anyone, let alone someone who had broken my trust when I was at my absolute lowest.

I had placed all of my trust into Silas. With my secret, and with what I asked him to do. And he had gone against my wishes. I should’ve known better than to tell anyone, but I allowed myself to feel safe with him, too safe, and all he wanted out of me was control.

I would not be tamed. And if anyone on this planet should’ve understood how I operated, it was Silas, which is what made this hurt worse.
