“I know,” he said.

“They got into my clubhouse.”

“I know,” he shouted.

“They know Moon sees things,” she said.

“We don't know that,” he insisted.

“They sent the package right after her vision.” Chrome didn't have an answer. Christmas stepped around the table. “They're already involved in my life.” She stopped in front of him. “So either I go there knowing you're beside me and you know the territory, or I go without you.”

Chrome's wolf exploded, and a growl tore from his chest. Christmas didn't flinch, not even a little. “You wouldn't.”

Her eyebrows lifted. “Try me.” Fuck. He wanted to hate her, but he couldn’t, and that was the problem.

Chrome lowered his voice. “You're a pain in my ass.”

“So I've been told,” she sassed.

“Stubborn,” he continued.

“Yep,” she said proudly.

“Reckless,” he said.

“Pot, meet kettle,” she teased, pointing at him.

“You’re bossy as hell,” he said.

“I'm a VP; it’s my job to be bossy.” He almost smiled, and Christmas crossed her arms over her chest. “Are you done?”

“No,” he breathed.

“What else?” she asked. He wanted to tell her she was beautiful, brave, smart, and so damn dangerous to his fucking heart, but he didn’t. She was the first woman in twelve years who'd made him wonder what it might feel like to have something that belonged to him because it chose him. Not because a pack ordered it, or because tradition demanded it, and not because blood decided it.

Chrome swallowed. “Nothing.”

Christmas studied him a little too closely, and then she nodded. “Good.”

She turned toward Tempest. “I want to leave tomorrow.”

Chrome stared at her. “Tomorrow?”

Chris looked back. “Problem with that?”

“It's December second,” he said.

“Excellent observation,” she sassed.

“Holly Ridge is almost four hours away in good weather,” he said.

“So?” she asked.

“Mountain roads are already getting snow,” he said.

“We have trucks,” she said.

“You're not riding?” he asked.
