“No one is using your blood for anything,” he growled.

Chris leaned back in her seat. “That simple, huh?”

“Yes,” Mayhem breathed.

Chris nodded. “Good. Glad we solved it.” Mayhem narrowed his eyes, and Moon almost smiled.

Tempest tapped the table. “If Moon’s blood is what they want, why infect Mayhem?”

“To activate me,” Moon whispered. Everyone looked at her, and Mayhem felt ice move through his veins.

“What does that mean?” he asked.

Moon turned the journal toward them to show a drawing of a silver wolf beneath a red moon. Beside her was a black wolf covered in strange markings. Mayhem stared at it.

“The black wolf is the carrier.” Moon nodded to the picture. “The infected mate acts like a catalyst.”

“For what?” Howler asked.

Moon hesitated, and Christmas answered first. “Her abilities.” Moon looked at her VP, and Chris shrugged. “Seems obvious.”

Mayhem looked between them. “What abilities?”

Moon closed the journal. “No.”

Tempest frowned. “Moon.”

“There’s nothing else,” Moon lied.

Chris leaned forward. “Bullshit,” she said, calling Moon out. Moon’s gaze snapped toward her VP. Mayhem stayed silent because this wasn’t his club, and not his call to make. Chris didn’t back down. “You’ve been seeing things for years.”

“Premonitions,” Moon whispered.

“Whatever you want to call them.” Chris waved her arms around, as though trying to get her point across.

“I don’t control them,” Moon said.

“You’ve never tried.” Moon stiffened, and Chris softened slightly. “Because you’re scared of them.” Mayhem looked at Moon. She didn’t deny it, so Chris continued. “What if they’re getting stronger because of him?” She pointed toward Mayhem, and Moon looked at him. He could feel the bond between them stirring. Mayhem’s wolf pressed forward. “What did you see before tonight?” Chris asked.

Moon looked down. Tempest’s expression changed. “You’ve seen more than what you’ve told me?” Moon went silent, and Mayhem didn’t like that. He wanted to defend her, but he knew that stepping into the middle of Dark Chaos’s business wasn’t his place.

“Moonlight,” Tempest warned.

She exhaled. “I’ve seen pieces of things. It’s all jumbled up and hard to put together.”

“Pieces of what?” Tempest asked.

“Nothing clear,” Moon insisted.

Chris said, “Try to explain it to us.”

Moon rubbed a hand over her face. “I saw the warehouse before Tempest met Howler.”

Tempest froze. “What?”

Moon nodded. “Not exactly—just shadows. I saw a lot of blood, and someone saying they were coming.”

“How long before I met Howler did you have the vision?” Tempest asked.
