Sienna Hayes
“What are you doing, Mark? Why would you say all of that to him?” I lash out the moment we are in my hotel room because one of us has to have some sort of sense.
“So, now you are worried about him? What’s going on, Sienna?” He throws his jacket on the floor in anger as if that will scare me.
It only pisses me off more.
“Let me spell it out for you because you clearly don’t understand. Dominic and I are purely professional. Platonic, at best. Nothing more and nothing less.”
He scoffs and I contemplate throwing him out of my room.
“I don’t question who you go on business trips with. I don’t question you being close with your female colleagues. If I am sane enough to know that work is just work, then why aren’t you?”
“That is different.” He makes a stupid point. “I am not hanging out with Dominic Wolfe. I know what I would do if I were in your place.”
“Well, you and I are different, Mark. I don’t think in whatever disgusting way you think. Best believe if I had any feelings for him, I wouldn’t entertain you for even a minute.”
He stares at me for a long time, and I take that moment to calm myself down.
Not only did he embarrass himself in front of Dominic, but he embarrassed me too. I don’t answer when he asks me about Mark, but his little stunt today proved everything I’ve never said out loud.
That Mark is a dick and a man-child.
“Now, if you are done making assumptions about me, can you leave?”
“What?”
“I think you should leave and go to your hotel.”
“At this hour? I am supposed to check-in in the morning.”
Well, that is a headache he should have taken before arriving here.
“You already knew that before coming here. I am not letting you sleep in my room tonight.”
“Where am I supposed to go then?” he asks, and I can see him getting annoyed by the second.
Too bad I don’t care about his feelings right now.
“Now, that’s a headache you should have taken before making a scene.”
I push him out the door, and he just looks at me as if he can’t believe me.
Honestly, I can’t too. Past me would have never done this.
But I don’t care about him anymore.
Or this relationship.
“Good night, Mark.”
These are the last words I say to him before slamming the door shut in his face.
I think it’s finally time I rip off the band-aid and break up with him.
