And that’s what exactly?

Finally, finding out if hands can be as nice in real life as they are in the books.

I huff, grumbling to myself as I grab handfuls of the paper towels from the dispenser.

First, Lou decides I need to do this stupid “single’s vacation” because I’m “depressingly alone”, and now even my subconscious even agrees.

It might not be so bad though.

A week of sun, sand, reading my favorite books, maybe a fruity drink here and there, and of course half naked dudes to feed my sexually deprived soul.

I don’t need to feed into the whole “matchmaking” bullshit because that’s exactly what it is. At least for me. The only men I need in my life are written by women for women, and occasional real ones that stay far away from me.

Chapter 2

Theo

I think I’m in love.

Disney has taught me enough to know what love at first sight means, and if that’s not how I’m feeling right now, then I need my Disney fan card revoked.

She took my breath away. Completely. It was actually really scary, like when you fall off a jungle gym at recess as a kid, and you’re left laying on the grass gasping like a fish out of water. That’s how she left me, standing there, staring at her wide eyed.

I played it so cool though. Cool as a frozen cucumber this guy right here. She must have been blown away by how suave I am. I killed it.

Too bad I’ll probably never see her again in my long as fuck life. The odds are stacked against me too damn high. I’ll just spend the next 300 years fantasizing about the curvy little spitfire of a woman that I totally did not pour coffee all over at the airport.

All that fiery rage, short wavy green tipped black hair, and eyes the color of toffee will always haunt me. But oh no, she was anything but sweet. I could hear her cursing the moment she stepped into the building.

Someone has an affinity for arson. I can’t deny, it has my heart fluttering. Well, it would, if I had a heartbeat.

I’m destined to be alone though. To live out my eternal damnation single as a Pringle. Sure I can date. I have been on a few over the years, with a couple of steady girlfriends thrown into the mix, but it isn’t possible to maintain long term.

I can’t be completely honest with anyone. I can’t be myself genuinely or else they would all run screaming and organizing angry mobs, classic horror movie style.

You can’t blame them though. Not when I’m a “creature of the night” they say. Which is total bullshit, by the way. I’m definitely an early bird, not a night owl.

No one would want me if they knew the truth. It’s hard to look past blood drinking, no aging, super hearing, speed, and strength, let alone the fact I can turn into an eight foot bat creature.

Yeah. Just forever alone. At least I have a window seat though.

Getting my invite to Lugosi Bay was exactly what I needed right now. It’s the perfect place to try to find someone, anyone, that I can be with long term. From what I know the Bleeding Hearts Club event is the only one of its kind, for people like me. Maybe hope isn’t all lost.

If only the airport girl would be there.

She’s probably halfway to Alaska right now. It’s been four hours and a connecting flight to a completely different city and I still can’t stop thinking about how perfect she is. Missed opportunities, man.

“Flight 180 to Miami boarding now.”

I guess we’ll never know.

Fun fact of the day: Public transportation is hell for vampires. Boredom sets in for most travelers around ten minutes in, and gives way to loud thoughts. They can be about pretty much anything too, so you never really know what you’ll get.

Beyond that, patrons typically bring with them some type of boredom destroyer. Sometimes that’s handheld games, music, podcasts, toys, or whatever else, and the fucking noise…it can be too much.

My advice for all the vampy boys out there, noise canceling headphones, and your favorite movie. You might get a few breakthrough comments here and there, but most of the time you’ll be so focused on the movie that you won’t even notice.
