At what point does one reach the end of bullshit that they can rightfully handle on their own?

Every time I thought I’d hit my limit, something new popped up, raising my bullshit threshold without my compliance.

Really, though. I couldn’t handle any more. I’d taken on too much to succeed on my own. And realistically, I knew that I wasn’t doing it alone, but it felt like that sometimes, like it was just a never ending storm of shit that I didn’t want to do.

Everything was going great, but…

We’d accomplished that, but…

Another problem solved, but…

Those weren’t the buts I was looking for.

I wanted “Dubai was a fantastic vacation destination, but so was the Maldives.”

A bitch could dream, right?

We needed to start playing for the endgame, not worrying about all the middle moves. With the levels of stress rising steadily and the rate of bullshit piling up every day, I was going to have gray hair before I was twenty-five.

Que the dramatic eye roll.

“What’s that smile for?” Palmer asked, reaching up to grab a coffee mug while I continued to sip tequila with Hyde like it was the answer to all my questions.

How did I know that it wasn’t? Because from where I was standing — sitting — day-drinking sounded like a fantastic plan. Maybe drunken ramblings would lead me down a new rabbit-hole, and I’d be able to make everything fit together.

I sighed at myself, deadpanning, “Because I’m hilarious.”

Stone snorted. “She just made a joke about her hair being gray before she celebrates her next birthday and then decided that day-drinking could possibly solve all our issues.”

“I didn’t hear her say a word,” Vaughn muttered, eyeing me like I was going to repeat my inner musings.

“Of course you didn’t…” Novak left his sentence hanging, quirking a pierced brow as he waited for my fae to understand.

Vaughn pinched the bridge of his nose. “What am I missing?”

Briggs shrugged his broad shoulders. “You’ll hear her more once the two of you seal your bond.”

“You can hear her?” York inquired, furrowing his brows.

Yep. That was also why my druid had been catching stray thoughts from my shifter.

“Yeah,” Briggs admitted, rubbing the back of his neck as he glanced at me. “You didn’t tell them?”

“It hadn’t come up in conversation, so no,” I confessed, turning my attention to all my guys. “Briggs and I sealed our bond the other night. Surprise. I’m keeping the band together. Four down, two to go.”

Novak scoffed at me. “We’re not a band. Those two can’t sing for shit,” he confided, pointing at Vaughn and Briggs.

Vaughn glared at my vampire. “I can’t sing, but I do play instruments. Chicks dig that, you know? Well, maybe not this one,” he tossed his thumb at me.

“But we could make her a concrete-filled baseball bat or something. I’m sure she’d love that,” Briggs chimed in, smirking at Novak.

“You play instruments?” I questioned my fae, focusing on the plurality he’d expressed.

“A few of them,” he sheepishly responded.

Hyde giggled. “Like drums or a flute? Because there’s a difference.”

“Are you planning on slowing down or are you just going to seal the rest of your bonds this week and hope for the best,” Dolyn hissed at me from his sister's side.
