“I like Victoria. I’ve been thinking about that option since you last visited. I think I’ll keep it,” Trēs remarked, rubbing a hand down his abs.
I scoffed at him. “You don’t keep a name, Trēs. You just choose it, but other people will still use it.”
“It’s really hard to think about these names when you look like men,” Stone admitted quietly. “Can you be anything other than naked guys?”
The three of them glanced at each other, smirking and nodding. Their forms glimmered like a hologram, and in their places three copies of my demon mate came into view. I cackled at their humor while Stone groaned.
Ūnus held his hand up, calling his siblings’ attention. “I’ve just decided that I want to be called Igneous.”
“You’re very funny,” Stone deadpanned, causing Duo and Trēs to giggle.
Sighing at the thought of ending their fun, I cleared my throat. “I know I usually visit for your entertainment, but that’s not why I’m here this time.”
I’d never been able to read their minds, but I saw the moment approval crossed their features. They moved as one from their separate positions, slowly fading to their original forms as they sat on their thrones.
The goddesses before us lit up the room. Blinding lights emanated from their skin before they toned their brilliance down so that we could look at them.
They held identical features and bodies, except for their eyes. Neon green, blue, and purple irises with silver flakes gazed back at me, tender smiles touching their feminine faces.
Duo pushed her white hair over her shoulder. “We sensed as much, dear. We’ll have our fun the next time you come.”
Trēs waved me closer, the color in her skin fading away as their power took over. “Remember, once we start, you mustn't interrupt. And you only get one question, so make it count.”
Their skin became as milky as their hair, their entire bodies whiting out before me as they grew still as statues. Unblinking eyes as colorless as snow locked on me, and they spoke one after the other.
Ūnus, Duo, Trēs. Over and over.
And I memorized every word.
“We needed to create the most powerful monster we had ever encountered.”
“That’s why we told your mother how to mix her magic to conceive you.”
“Why we told Lucifer to bestow upon you his most prized gift.”
“Why we told Lilith to give you wrath.”
“Why you’ve been training your whole life.”
“And why you had to wait until the right time to meet your mates.”
“We’ve given you all the things you would need to succeed.”
“Shown you all the proper people to have in your life.”
“Predicted chances for you to meet more of those people in the near future.”
“Made sure your mates would be as powerful as you when all your bonds are sealed.”
“Created you every opportunity that we could without messing up the future we saw.”
“To build your own army, Monster,” Trēs whispered.
I only had one question. “What am I supposed to do?”
Ūnus’ eyes sparkled lime green, smiling at me even if her lips didn’t. “The angel is an abomination.”
Duo’s aqua gaze found me next. “Kill him and live happily ever after.”
