He glances at me. “Was that a dick joke, Drew? Can’t you do better than that?”
“Everything he says is a question,” Collin complains.
“Shut up wasn’t a question, was it?” Clay narrows his eyes at Collin. “Keep your fucking mouth closed.”
The kangaroo smiles as another phone vibrates on the table.
Forrest leans up to give Walker and me a look I can’t quite interpret.
Clay spins the phone in a circle on the tabletop before picking it up.
“Are you coming home now?” he asks with a grin, though his disgust shines through in the next breath. “I’ve got your guys and Carol. I know how much you love your snake.”
“Funny thing about that contract between us,” Kody says, her voice filled with the growling hiss of her cobra. “When you die, all your assets become mine.”
Clay jerks the phone away from his ear with a frown. As he stares at the screen, a single bead of sweat forms on his forehead, rolling down his temple.
“She ruffle your feathers?” Walker teases.
“Looks like she tied his balls in a knot,” I tell my brother.
“Oh, man.” Ali grimaces. “You’ve really pissed her off when you took Carol. That’s a bigger fuck up than taking us.”
“Shut. Up!” Clay barks again.
Walker tries to shrug, but his restraints are too tight. “You didn’t think this through to the end.”
“What are you going to do when she shows up?” Forrest inquires.
“She’ll have to find you first,” he answers.
“There’s a tracker in his ass,” Collin reveals with a straight face.
I click my tongue and smile. “Guess who?”
“He doesn’t have glasses,” Walker hints.
“Or red hair,” I add.
“Shut up!” Clay screams. “Shut the fuck up.”
“There’s no tracker in anyone’s ass…” I say to placate him. “I don’t think. But I did find your address a few weeks ago, and she knows when to come for us.” I cough. “Sorry. Where to come. She knows where to come to get us.”
Ali turns to me. “Guess who she’ll find when she gets here?”
I purse my lips. “A pretty, pretty bird?”
“Unless he runs like a scared bitch,” Forrest growls, shocking the shit out of me.
Walker leans forward so the rhino can see his raised brow. “You good, dude?”
“Fuck this spoiled asshole,” Forrest states, his southern accent thicker than normal. “Someone didn’t tell him no enough.”
“Fuck me?” Clay asks, chuckling. “Really?”
Collin sighs. “Again with the questions. Yes. He’s talking about you.”
“Fuck me?” Clay repeats like he can’t believe what he’s hearing.
