Renovating The Heart Of A Beast
Page 62
“Matthew?” I froze and that voice in my head stopped raging.
“I need you right now.” Her voice was weak, my heart slowed down and I turned to face her, still feeling on edge. I couldn’t leave her even if I wanted to. She needed me, and I was starting to believe that I needed her.
“I gotta help her Tea, I love her so fuckin much man.” I looked away not believing what I just said. “I fuckin love her and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if some sick shit happened to her because of that nigga. Her and my step daughter. You gotta let me out of this shit and let me go check on my nigga Honor and save my girl.”
Mattea released me and looked at me without saying anything.
“I swear if you help me out of here without momma and dad knowing, I won’t give Ream no problems with stepping away from the dynasty and I will really go get help. I’ll go check in some where and get reevaluated. I’ll ask questions to figure out how to beat these hallucinations and be better towards you and the family. I just can’t sit here chained up knowing my future family is at risk of this weird ass nigga Sosa. I also want to make shit right before my departure with that Syndicate nigga Inferno. Just let me do this sis, I swear I will try my hardest to do shit right.” I pleaded with my eyes.
We both remained quiet and my dad walked in, he looked calm and emotionless.
“I’ll let you out, I got the key in my pocket. I ain’t as crazy as you was just claiming to my wife who you bet not ever talk to like that again or I’m breaking ya fuckin jaw. Ya momma the crazy one, shit she shot me before even taking the time to ask me a question that would have avoided me walking with this sick ass limp from time to time. She even came up with the idea to chain yo ass down. I’m kinda mad that I didn’t come up with the shit first.”
My dad took a seat on the couch and Mattea sat next to him. He loved to bring up the time when my momma shot him. He acted like he wanted her to do the shit again. He lit his blunt and looked at me with a pensive stare.
“Ya momma just want the best for you. I want that for all my kids as well. You wouldn’t understand this shit until you have kids of your own. Between you, Mattea and Kachella. I can’t even tell y’all who stresses me the most. I guess its payback for all the shit I did coming up. Hell my other two boys do everything that me and ya moms has set out for them to do.” He shook his head and I couldn’t debate him on that.
My brothers really were good ass kids coming up. Now they both were drafted and in the NBA just what my dad wished for. He wanted us out of the streets, he said he never wanted the streets for us because he know what it did to him coming up and I couldn’t even fault him for it.
“Since you want to get the type of help that me an your mom been praying you ask for. I will let you out under one condition.” I knew that shit was coming but for right now I was desperate as hell and I was also tired as hell. Tired of going through the same battles with myself.
“What is it pops?” I sighed hard because I already knew he was about to ask some shit that I didn’t want to agree with but had to.
“Shit, I’m tired of mutha fucca’s acting like Beast name don’t ring bells in the streets. They hear my first name Praise and think a nigga been praising the lord my whole life.” Me and Mattea looked at each other and fell out laughing. My dad’s face remained the same, he was dead serious.
“I’m sanctified with my guns and I still make grown niggas piss themselves when I walk through. Now, I don’t like how that nigga Inferno just broke in yo crib like you some kinda bitch.” My dad cleared his throat and looked me right in the eyes. “Only reason why I ain’t gone come for that nigga and everything he loves and risk going to war is because if it was my brother…” He stopped talking and looked away.
“I’d do the same for Teflon’s bitch ass even though he wouldn’t have deserved it.” I could see the sadness that appeared momentarily in my father’s eyes. He never really talked about his brother and when he did talk about him it would only be about the times they were kids growing up. How good my uncle had it versus how hard my father had it. My grandmother talked about him a lot, but it was a touchy topic for my dad.
My father rode us all hard about sticking together as siblings and having loyalty to each other. That’s why when me and Mattea beefed my father got in the middle and made us squash the shit fast. I waited patiently for him to get to the actual point. It felt like I was on the edge of my seat.
“I still got connects, I can locate that nigga in the next hour or so. I have to go with you, I been needing to beat a niggas ass.” I shook my head no as my dad raised his brows like he was daring me to actually tell him no.
“While I locate him and we all prepare to ride out. You go up to that hospital and go see about Honor. I know how much she means to you.” I nodded my head quickly in agreement with that.
“Mattea will take you, when you see her send my love and prayers to her. Don’t let the beast inside control you son. I will never knock you for trying to protect and stand on your morals. You just gotta move street shit like chess and not let that other voice inside your head get control. I already have all the resources you need for you and that girl that you claiming to love. Y’all gotta help each other get right. You can’t want help for her and not for yourself. You understand me son?”
“Yes sir.” I answered feeling a hundred times better then I did ten minutes ago.
“All right, well let me get you out of these chains.” He chuckled and stood to help me to my freedom.
Chapter Thirty
SOULFUL HURTZ
“How is he doing today doc?” I stifled a yawn as I looked into the doctor’s pretty blue eyes. Roberto was finally in stable condition but remained in a coma, it was basically up to him to wake up and start functioning normally. He was shot in his chest, it missed his heart by one inch. The doctor’s that Inferno had working on him thought it was best for him to go into an induced coma, so he wouldn’t overwork the rest of his organs or some shit that they tried to tell me. I didn’t really understand all the medical shit that they tried to explain to me.
All of this shit was a blur, and for the first time since I became an NFL player, I was ready to hang my cleats and hit the streets. The scare of almost losing Roberto had me ready to go track down the nigga that did this shit and show him my get down. Not only did the nigga make me almost lose a brother but the woman that I was beginning to like a lot and who was carrying my firstborn child was there and could have been hit.
All of it wasn’t sitting to well with me, so I barely slept at night.
“He’s fine, Roberto has been alert for the past five hours. I wasn’t supposed to tell you that so act as if you don’t know until he is ready to reveal this to you all.” I just chuckled because Roberto was dramatic. Nigga probably been alert for days now and just liked all the attention and love he was getting from everyone. Inferno had him moved to his main house and this is where he received around-the-clock care.
Luv and Passion catered to him as well. Polishing the nigga nails and feet and doing his hair. Roberto wasn’t fooling me at all. He had us all stressed out, the main person taking it the hardest was Inferno. Inferno stayed by Roberto’s side night and day. Their father flew down with Inferno’s mother. Their father brought like twelve kids with him and Inferno didn’t hold back cursing his dad out for bringing his unknown siblings to where he rested his head at.
Inferno let them visit for a couple of hours then made them leave. Sovereign really wanted Inferno to make peace with his siblings and get to know them but Inferno wasn’t open just yet to doing so. I remember Inferno opening up and telling me how Roberto was his only sibling that had treated him well and didn’t make him feel like an outsider. Inferno was the only sibling that was half black and Mexican. His mom was back married to his dad so he no longer had dealings with his other several baby mothers.
Inferno’s siblings were jealous of Inferno being the firstborn and they probably listened to all the bullshit their mothers said about him. So in a way I understood why Inferno really didn’t want much to do with his other half-siblings. It took him a while to grow accustomed to Roberto, mainly it was Roberto never giving up and making his brother warm up to him.
