‘DTR?’ My brows pinched.
‘Define the relationship. Are you like boyfriend-girlfriend official or is it still just a regular hook-up thing?’
‘Definitely not just a hook-up thing,’ I said quickly. ‘It’s serious. We’ve been spending a lot of time together.’
That was all true. Whilst he hadn’t officially asked me to be his girlfriend, it was obvious that I was. Blake wouldn’t have risked asking me to move in if I wasn’t important to him.
‘I’m so happy for you, sweetie,’ Joe said, then his eyes popped. ‘Incoming! Don’t look, but three of the Devlin brothers are approaching. I repeat. Hotness overload incoming! Play it cool!’
I was desperate to see if Blake was included in the Devlin trio, but instead I took a glug of my Cosmopolitan.
Whenever I bumped into one of Blake’s brothers, I worried that somehow they’d know I was his secret lover.
It was a miracle that we’d been able to keep it from his brothers for so long, given how close they were.
But if they knew, World War III would’ve erupted, so the fact that all was calm was a good thing.
‘Hi!’ I chorused with Dana as they approached our table.
‘Ladies. Gentleman,’ Oscar said.
‘Hey,’ Seb added.
‘Mr Devlins!’ Joe beamed. ‘Did I say that right? What’s the plural for multiple brothers with the same surname?’
‘Our mother just calls us “trouble”!’ Seb chuckled.
‘Some women would call a Devlin trio their ultimate fantasy.’ Oscar flashed a mischievous smile.
‘Some men, too,’ Joe muttered.
Heath didn’t say anything. When my gaze flicked towards him, he was frowning, his eyes fixed on my handbag.
Weird.
‘Hi, Heath,’ I said. ‘Everything’s looking good for Tuesday. And so far, we’re within budget.’
‘Is that a new handbag?’ he asked me, his eyes still fixated on it.
‘No,’ I said, wondering why he’d asked. ‘I’ve had it a few months, but haven’t used it in a while, so thought I’d give it an airing. Plus, it matches my new dress.’
Blake had been spoiling me with enough handbags, shoes and clothes to last three lifetimes.
Of course, I’d insisted it wasn’t necessary, but he said I deserved to be treated.
I’d pointed out that if I kept rocking up to the office with a new five grand handbag every week, people would get suspicious. So at work I tried to keep my accessories as low-key as possible. Hence why I brought this high street bag to work today.
‘That dress is another banger!’ Joe said. ‘I don’t know where you’ve been shopping lately, but you’re slaying with the clothes. They’re oceans apart from those hideous brown cardigans you used to wear.’
‘It looks familiar,’ Heath said.
‘Since when have you given a shit about handbags?’ Oscar rolled his eyes.
‘Clearly he needs a drink,’ Seb added. ‘Enjoy the rest of your evening.’
‘You too,’ I said as Oscar and Seb led Heath over to the bar.
‘Wow.’ Joe fanned himself. ‘Is it hot out here or is it me?’
