Shaking my head, I make the thoughts go away and turn away from the mirror. The clock hanging on the wall showed it was already 5 P.M.
My phone blares with a incoming call, and I walk over to see it was Willow.
“Hello?” I say as I set it between my shoulder and face as I grab my bag sitting on my chair.
“Heyyyyyyyyyy beautiful. I forgot to ask, am I coming to get you?”
I check inside my bag to make sure I had everything I needed as I answered.
“No, my dad is letting me borrow his car for the summer.”
“Okay, sounds good. I’m about to head out from my house to meet up there. You ready?”
I settle my bag on my shoulder as I give myself one last look in the mirror.
“I sure am.”
“Okay, you have the address right?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, see you soon then!” she says and disconnects.
Sliding my phone into the pocket of my pants, I realize I don’t have any.
Shit.
I’ll just have to keep it in my chest area or something.
I turn my lights out and start to walk downstairs. My shoes hit the carpet in a silent thump, and I was about to reach the top for the steps when I hear hushed whispering.
I stopped moving, and held my body still as I continued hearing it. There was only three other people in this house, why the need to whisper?
Shuffling ever so silently towards the railing and trying to listen. I know eavesdropping is bad, but hey.
At first, I can’t make out any words at all, but then I familiarize the voices and can tell it’s definitely Marie and my father talking.
Why would they be whispering?
In their own house?
I hold still and try to quiet my heart beat as I eavesdrop.
“Have you even talked to her about it?”
Sounds like Marie.
“Oh yeah, what am I supposed to say about it? She’s eighteen now.”
They are obviously talking about me.
I hear crane my head further in hopes I could hear better.
“I get that Mark, but do you really want your daughter to be blind in this?”
What the hell?
I could hear my father let out a deep breath.
