Bishop stared. “You should be dead.”
“People keep saying that,” Cole said.
Ghost sighed. “Seriously?”
Cole looked at him. “You must be Ghost.”
“Apparently I'm famous,” Ghost grumbled.
“You're irritating,” Cole said.
“So I've been told,” Ghost breathed.
Cole's attention returned to Angel. “Give me the ledger.” Angel stepped around Ghost, and He immediately moved her back.
She shoved him. “We discussed this.”
“Not this specific scenario,” Ghost said.
“Ghost,” she hissed.
Cole smiled. “She controls you.”
Ghost looked at him. “No.” He glanced at Angel. “I respect her.” That shut Cole up. Angel stepped beside him, not in front of him, and Ghost could live with that.
“You killed my mother,” she said.
Cole shrugged. “She became inconvenient.”
Ghost felt Angel tense, and Jackhammer took her hand. “What about Viper?”
“Also inconvenient,” Cole said.
“And Shadow?” she asked.
Cole shrugged. “Collateral damage.”
Angel's face went blank, and Ghost knew that look now. She wasn't breaking. She was done. “And me?”
Cole smiled. “You were supposed to disappear.”
“I did,” she said.
“Not well enough,” he insisted.
“You sent Razor after me,” she said.
“I reminded him of his obligations,” Cole countered.
“For seven years?” she shouted.
“I didn't care about you for seven years. You could have avoided all of this if you had just stayed gone,” he said.
Angel frowned. “Then why now?”
“Because Dominic resurfaced, trying to find you.”
Ghost's attention sharpened. “Where is he?”
