“Be there in two,” Damián responds.
I lean back against the wall, feeling like the three hours since I saw the message have aged me twenty fucking years.
I stare at his closed door, wanting nothing more than to break it down, pull him into my arms, and tell him we can keep touching as we promised back at the cabin.
But I don’t
I can’t touch him again, no matter how much it kills me.
I can’t afford to lose focus… especially when his stalker is already on the island.
CHAPTER 16
CILLIAN
I step out of the shower, annoyed that the steam and hot water did nothing to relax my body.
I am tense, extremely embarrassed, and sad.
Ugh…
That rejection was brutal.
Sure, I know we promised that nothing would ever happen outside of the cabin, but that kiss in the car in front of his team... It gave me hope.
Stupid hope.
Stupid Knox, with his stupid, gorgeous face and his stupid, incredibly fit body.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
My body betrays me, my heart spiking with the foolish hope that Knox is standing outside in nothing but a thong, coming to tell me he changed his mind and wants my babies.
But I open the door to find Leo staring at me with a bottle of tequila in hand. “There’s an emergency.”
Fuck…
I step back to let him in.
As he walks past, I spot Damián sitting on a couch in the lounge area right across from my bedroom door, with a huge gun on the table and reading a YA fantasy book.
Huh… interesting mix.
“Good night, Damián,” I say. He waves back as I close the door.
I turn around, and Leo hands me a shot of tequila.
“Alright, what’s the emergency?” I ask, taking the shot.
“The emergency is that you haven’t told me a single thing about what happened in that sex cabin!”
“It’s not a sex cabin, Leo,” I counter, but my face turns bright red, and he bursts out laughing.
“Oh, my God! You’re blushing! Something definitely happened in that cabin. Did he whip you into compliance? Did he spank you?”
“What?! No!”
“Ooh! Did he throw you to the floor and take you?” he teases, but my eyes give me away, and Leo goes from laughing to shocked in a second. “Oh, my God! He did?!”
