Uggh!
That was terrifying.
As soon as I am off it, I feel Knox stepping up right behind me, but he doesn’t touch me.
He never touches me anymore unless it’s to move me away from someone who is in my way… which is why I keep acting like I am too focused on other stuff, intentionally walking into anyone and anything I see.
And for a second I feel happy here next to Knox, knowing my speech is done and I can go relax for a bit… at least until I see Leo’s face.
Freaking hell…
The guests haven’t even arrived, and there’s already an issue.
“Cil, we have a problem,” Leo says, confirming my fear. But to my surprise, he glares at Julian, who arrives right behind him with guilt written all over his face.
“I am so sorry, I fucked up,” Julian begs, his hands curling around a printed list.
“What happened?”
“Fucking Julian added Aurelio to the guest list.”
“What?!” I open my phone, check the guest list, and see a name I regret ever calling with love.
“I didn’t!” Julian swears, pointing at a name in his list. “I added Aaron Malcom and his plus-one. I didn’t check the plus-one information and just passed it to Astrid.”
“Ahh… fuck.”
“Maybe he wants to buy a painting,” Leo says, but the second his words come out, he knows they’re bullshit. “Yeah, no. He’s going to try and get you back.”
First an auction, then a murderous stalker, and now my fucking cheating ex from hell.
Great…
“Want me to tell him to fuck off?” Leo points at the Harknetts. “Maybe I can tell them to shove him in a box and kick him out over a security issue.”
“I love how you think, but we don’t have time now. The guests will be here in—” I check my watch and sigh. “Twenty minutes. You both go get changed and see you at the docks.”
“What suit are you going to wear?” Julian asks, and Leo rolls his eyes.
He really does hate how Julian loves copying my style.
But I’m too busy and self-assured to care about petty shit like that.
“Today I’ll wear the blue Canali,” I let him know.
“Ah! Me too,” Julian smiles, making Leo mouth, ‘What a surprise!’
I press my lips so I don’t laugh, and wave at Knox, who is a bit further away from me than before.
I guess being surrounded by all eight Harknetts makes him feel at ease. Like he can give me a bit of room and it will all still be okay.
Ha!
Who would’ve ever thought there would come a day where having him give me space would bother me?
“Let’s go get changed,” I tell him as soon as he stands next to me, and then head to my room.
In my magical fantasy world, Knox is watching me change while licking his lips and stroking his gorgeous cock… but reality is way more boring.
