“Usually, I wouldn’t tell my business and such,” I teased. “But I’m feeling nice today, so I’ll comply. It’s Love.”

“Wowwwwww,” he dragged out.

I squinted, my cheeks hitching as I grinned. “I know, right?”

Our eyes locked as we got caught up in the moment, basking in the inside joke about love that the rest of the world wasn’t privy to.

“Excuse me,” Raelynn sang, thrusting herself into the conversation. “I can see you two of you only have eyes for each other, and I hate to break that up—”

“No, you don’t,” I interrupted, snickering.

“You’re right,” she cackled, her eyes on Jamie. “But, I’m Raelynn.”

“Nice to meet you,” Jamie nodded.

His brother also took the initiative to introduce himself to her directly. “And I’m sure you heard me already, but on the off-chance you didn’t, I’m Judah.”

“You’re also fine as fuck,” Raelynn proudly replied.

“Mmkay, that’s our cue to go,” I said, as Jamie and Judah laughed. “I knew it would only be a matter of time before she showed her ass and embarrassed me.”

“How are you embarrassed because I think the man is fine?”

“He’s single too,” Jamie added with a smile.

“Nigga, I can speak for myself,” Judah chuckled.

“And please don’t entertain her shenanigans. It’ll only make them worse,” I added.

Leaning over his cart, Judah smirked at Raelynn. “What are you ladies getting into tonight?”

“Tacos, margaritas, and talking shit about men. No, you are not invited.”

“Whew,” Judah playfully whistled, as Jamie sniggered.

“I told you her ass is mean.”

My resistance to smile was outweighed by the awe of me being on his mind enough for him to discuss me.

“You’ve been talking about me?”

“Here and there. Maybe.”

“Good things, I hope?”

“I don’t know,” he eyed me, sporting a mischievous grin. “I was telling my people that you were cool, but you might make a liar out of me if you don’t invite niggas to taco night.”

I chortled, placing a hand over my mouth. “That is the weakest attempt at manipulation that I’ve ever seen.”

“That’s a good thing. Shows you that I’m bad at it.”

“Whatever, Mr. Luck.”

“Nyx, I vote that we let them come,” Raelynn said, reminding me that she was there.

“Oh, I’m sure you do,” I drawled. “But fine. If y’all want to come to taco night, then you have to pay for the materials. I refuse to buy the food and cook.” I pointed between the two of them.

“I think we can handle that, firecracker,” Judah winked.
