He grasps me tightly, shielding me with his body as the creature snarls above. With one clean strike, he severs her head. She falls beside me, twitching. His breath wavers against my cheek.
“As much as it makes my dick hard to watch you in your new element, she touched you. And no one touches you but me.”
Rain continues to pelt down at us washing away the remnants of the hunt. Christian’s chest is hard beneath my hands, rising and falling with ragged breaths. His lips hover above mine, a new scar forming at the corner of his mouth. I close the gap and place a gentle kiss there. He grips my waist, strong hands, lifting me up in one sweep. I wrap my legs around him, feeling the hardness of his length against my core. I slam my lips against his as he pushes me against the thick trunk of a tree. My jacket bears the brunt of the impact but it’s the feeling of pain and promise of pleasure that has me whimpering against his mouth.
He nearly laughs, the frustration and terror mixing. “This world suits you.”
“I take it you like my burgeoning personality?”
His eyes darken. “Far too much.”
My heart rate soars, a heavy rush filling my ears. Christian’s mouth moves to graze the exposed skin at my neck. His tongue delves out to taste, teeth arcing in delicious teases. The heavy pant of his breath caresses the shell of my ear, the feel of it lulls my eyes closed.
“Is there something wrong with us?” I ask through uneven breaths.
“As you can see, there’s nothing wrong with a little madness.”
The forest groans. Another howl is getting closer. He guides me to my knees, the treaded earth cold against my shins. He springs his dick free from his slacks and positions himself protectively above. One hand on a blade, ready for an attack, another clasped around his hardness.
“Open,” he commands, raw with molten desire.
“God, I missed you.” Exhaling, I move his hand, replacing it with mine. Gripping the wide girth of him, I slowly run my tongue from base to tip in a sweeping motion.
The cold is nothing against the heat rising between us. His now free hand moves to my hair, tugging it roughly, sending ripples of pleasure down my spine.
A cascade of bells echo in the distance. Goosebumps scatter across my nape.
Christian shoves hard, scraping the back of my throat causing me to gag. I smile against his dick. Gripping him with both hands now, I allow the smoothness of him to slide from base to tip, agonizingly slow. His hips and legs vibrate with suppressed need, the chorded muscle that dips below his waistband ripples as he pushes in and out.
“Don’t hold back. I’m not a gentle little thing,” I murmur around his dick.
With this he drops his blade and threads his hands through my hair pumping violently into my mouth. And I take him. If tonight is the last night that we must live, we must do it deliciously—to the fullest.
“Fuck,” he growls. I can feel every throb and thrust of him over my tongue and against my cheeks.
Wetness pools between my legs, but I’m focused on the man before me. We are mad; absolutely spiraling into insanity.
He pulls out quickly, leaving me empty and confused.
“I need more of you.” His breathing is labored as he shoves his dick in his pants. Dazed, I allow him to pull me along a meandering trail.
“There is a cave near the dumping lake. We can regroup for a moment, inside.” His eyes are dark, embers swirling within them.
“Lead the way, Virgil.” I’m out of breath, lips swollen, legs trembling with need. I don’t care for the noises around us. All I can see is the man before me. He looks every bit a dream, or a nightmare. Dressed in black, blade in hand, and a danger in his soul.
Christian expels a laugh. It vibrates within my chest, curling around me like a warm embrace.
“My soul may be damned, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to do sinful, dirty things to you.”
“Fold me into your darkness, my shadow,” I say, beneath hooded eyes.
We sprint through the trees until we reach a jagged opening carved into the hillside, only a few strides away from the lake. The heavy chain submerged below the water crosses my mind; the key Kieran gave me still hidden in the grooves of my boots.
Christian ushers me inside, hand firm on my back. The cave breathes cold, but it shields us from the rain. Inside, stalactites drip rhythmically, slow clocks ticking. Light from outside casts the droplets into an array akin to a starry night. If it weren’t for the threat of demons lingering outside, this would be cozy. But I’m not here for cozy. I’m here for danger.
Lightning flashes a few times, before a distant drum of thunder drolls again. The forest seems to respond with a chorus of gurgling screeches and incessant ringing of bells.
“Throw your bell away,” Christian commands.
