“I want to.”

I hated my little brother for giving Adonis my number. But I loved him a lot more. “You were really good today,” I said. I hadn’t been paying much attention to him. But I’d seen him make a few shots. And he’d made the team. Which was probably not going to be social suicide after all.

“Not as good as your new boyfriend.”

I laughed. “Stop it.”

RJ smiled. “Never.”

I was glad he wasn’t stopping. Because I wasn’t sure I’d ever stop feeling sad without his constant teasing.

RJ’s phone buzzed. “Can you get that?”

“Where is it?”

“In my pocket.” He gestured to the sweatpants he’d pulled on after tryouts.

“Which pocket? The one in your sweats or the one in your gym shorts underneath?”

“Not sure.”

I wasn’t even sure why I was asking. The answer was no. “I’m not reaching into your pocket.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s too close to your junk.”

He laughed and took one of his hands off the steering wheel. He slid it into his sweatpants’ pocket. And then he shook his head and reached under the waistband of his sweatpants.

The car swerved a bit right.

“RJ!” I yelled and grabbed the wheel. Just when I thought he was getting better at driving. He’d almost sideswiped a parked car.

He laughed and pulled out his phone. He tossed it to me. “Who texted me? I gave my number to this sophomore earlier.”

Of course he had. I laughed when I clicked on the text. “It’s from Parker.” Axel’s little sister was obsessed with RJ. Or hated him. I wasn’t really sure.

“God help me,” RJ said. “How did she get my number again? I got a new phone and number so she wouldn’t have it anymore.”

I wished I’d given it to her in retaliation for RJ giving Adonis my number. But I hadn’t been quick enough about it. “No idea.”

“Well, what does that little twerp want now?” RJ asked.

“She wants to tell you that she doesn’t like Amber. Who is Amber?”

“The freaking sophomore I just...” RJ sighed and gripped the steering wheel tight. “I swear that little twerp is somehow threatening every girl I go out with.”

I laughed. “That’s not possible.”

“She must be a cyber genius.”

“Parker?” I shook my head. “I don’t think so. She’s like nine.”

RJ sighed again.

“What should I say back?”

“Do not engage with her! Block the little devil.”
