“You said you trusted me. So keep your eyes closed and pretend I’m him.”
I closed my eyes tighter.
“Did he call you Sophie?” Adonis whispered.
It was the first time Adonis had ever used my real name. I shook my head. “He always called me Miss Hunter.” Well, except for that one time. After he’d caught me dancing with Adonis. He’d been so mad. I knew he was jealous. He’d wanted me all to himself.
“Miss Hunter,” Adonis whispered and kissed the side of my neck. “Fuck, that’s hot. I can definitely work with that.”
I laughed.
“You have no idea how long I’ve want to touch you like this, Miss Hunter.”
I kept my eyes closed and reached my hand behind Adonis’ neck. They had different haircuts, but the thrill was the same. My fingers had slid a little beneath Mr. Halifax’s mask. I closed my eyes tighter, imagining I was running my fingers through Mr. Halifax’s hair. I wasn’t sure how remembering every second of this was supposed to help me. But now that I’d started, I didn’t know how to stop.
“You’re driving me crazy, Miss Hunter.”
My name on Adonis’s lips did something to me.
He pulled me tighter against him as he kissed the side of my neck.
Mr. Halifax hadn’t kissed my neck. His mask had been in the way. But I didn’t tell Adonis to stop, because I really liked the way his lips felt against my skin.
His fingers skated to the hem of my skirt.
I moaned.
He exhaled sharply in my ear. “Do you want to get out of here?”
It was almost exactly what Mr. Halifax had said. And I did want to get out of here. I opened my eyes.
Scarlett was dancing with Axel, but staring at me with concern.
I gave her a nod to let her know that I was okay. And then I grabbed Adonis’ hand and pulled him to the staircase. I didn’t know exactly what Adonis’ plan was. But if he was trying to recreate every moment from that night...I was going to let him. I needed Mr. Halifax out of my system.
Adonis opened one door and someone screamed. He chuckled and closed it, pulling me farther down the hall. “This will do,” he said when he opened another door.
He pulled me into a bathroom. He looked around the room and walked over to a robe. “Perfect.” He pulled out the sash from the loops and walked over to me. “Close your eyes.”
I stared into his green eyes and then slowly closed mine. He wrapped the sash around my eyes, tying it tight in the back.
“Picture him,” he whispered against my lips. “Are you back there?”
I hadn’t been blindfolded before. But I knew he was just trying to make me picture Mr. Halifax instead of him. I slowly nodded.
“So fucking gorgeous,” he said. His knuckles brushed against my jaw. “You have no idea how many times I’ve dreamed of bending you over my desk, Miss Hunter.” His thumb traced my lower lip, making me part my lips.
Mr. Halifax hadn’t kissed me. His mask had been in the way. But I didn’t say a word when Adonis slammed his lips against mine.
He stepped forward, making me step back. My back slammed against the door. I lifted my hands, fumbling without my sight. I wanted more. I wanted everything. I found the front of his shirt and grabbed it, pulling him closer.
His tongue swirled against mine as his fingers trailed up my thigh. Higher. And higher. He pushed my thong to the side and slid two fingers inside of me.
My lips parted again and he groaned.
“You’re so wet for me, Miss Hunter.”
Jesus.
